I just found out I have celiac disease and need to find out what I can and cannot eat.  Are gluten free foods easy to find?

While I am sorry that you have celiac disease (like me), I am happy to report that soon you will feel better.  The gluten free diet is totally worth it.  With time and patience, you will master the diet.  I am not going to rehash a ton of information.  This link does the job well.

For a quick start......eat fresh meat, fish, poultry, eggs, nuts, fruit, vegetables, and rice for starters.  If you can consume dairy, eat that too (often celiacs are temporarily lactose intolerant).  Then look for foods marked gluten free until you get good at reading labels.  Avoid processed foods (most are junk and not conducive for healing, but sometimes you just need a gluten free donut!)  Do NOT eat out until you are well and learn all you can about cross contamination which can occur when eating out or even in your own home (double dipping the mayo jar).

      I put on over 12kg by eating protein with every meal, 3 to 5 times a day. Eggs, Chicken, Tuna, Turkey etc. I stay away from too much red meat as it can be inflammatory. Scott is correct. I've come across a bunch of Coeliac PT's on Tiktok and Instagram. They all say the same thing, the key is getting enough protein and consistency.

      Trader Joe's carries a good variety of affordable gluten-free foods like bagels, hamburger buns, pasta, etc. I like Franz Gluten Free bread, which is available at my local Costco. Food For Life and Little Northern Bakehouse (advertisers here) also make excellent gluten-free breads. Costco also sells gluten-free pizzas, crackers, gravy, etc.
