Just wondering if anyone here drinks Kombucha. I know it's gluten-free and all - I'm just curious about the stuff and whether or not anyone finds it to be beneficial....

What is it?

According to the bottle - "it's a handmade Chinese tea that is delicately cultured for 30 days. It sounds powerful. :) I thought maybe I would start drinking it.

Not trying to advertise :rolleyes: I'm not enjoying the taste all that much..and you can see huge strands of the culture floating in the drink - which is interesting.

I used to make it from a culture at home. It is really weird looking but we had fun making it from scratch. It's been years since I made it but it did give me energy then something came out about it and I stopped drinking it. I also used it on my dog when he was sick. It kinda had a vinegar taste to it, but I'm sure the processed one is different.I don't think I would drink any more than it calls for...some people think alot is better and thats not always the case...

hmmm I wonder how much you're supposed to drink. i bought a bottled version of it from Whole Foods. It says its raw and organic, so i figure *maybe* that's the next best thing to making it yourself. it gave me insane amounts of energy. i was practically dancing in my cubicle. do you remember what came out about it? i don't know why i'm so curious about this stuff.

I love kombucha!

It's kinda gross at first but you sorta get addicted to it. I first tried it when I worked at Whole Paycheck (that's what I call Whole Foods). Anyway, all I know about it is that you're basically drinking a bacterial culture, so it's like a very powerful probiotic. A lot of people say that it aids in digestion and can fight cancer and all sorts of wonder things. The way I figure is that you'd probably have to eat several containers of yogurt to get the same effect. As to why it gives you so much energy, I think it has something to do with the fact that it boosts metabolism, not to mention the tiny bit of alcohol that's in it.

I try not to drink it too often though, for a while I was almost addicted to the stuff.

I'd recommend drinking half a bottle every other day or so.

I really don't remember what the scoop was on it but it did give me energy and you do grow a fondness for the taste..It was fun making the culture and letting it grow. there probably is still a site somewhere on it.now that someone brought it up I want to make it again. I think that people were over drinking . I know some who used it for cancer and it worked. I made it when it first became popular which was years ago. Before it was put in a bottle and sterilized..... I would suspect that the stuff in the bottle is much weaker than the real deal. I know someone gave me a start then I put it in a gallon jug with distilled water , I can't remember for how long but I peeled out a thin layer to start a new culture and the process once again began!!!! I know I also gave it to my pets.It was a big piesce of flat slippery mushroom it always reminded me of the movie "the Blob" in fact that's what we called our kombacha........I need to find a start. I remember one could buy a culture from a website....

sorry I'm not more help---wow I sure hope that isn't why I have health problems now!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ONLY KIDDING!.!>!>!!>!

Oops, I forgot to say that when I made it from a culture I never had strands of goo or strands in my drink!!!! Sorry but that would remind me of "snot" for lack of a better word. I don't think I would be able to drink that.... anyway if you do a google search there are a couple of sites that sell the culture for $19.95 then from there you will alway have a new culture brewing and then you can them away to your friends.If they don't know anything about it they wil thinks you have lost your marbles but it is fun.... The sites have pics of how the culture looks and the color of the tea......

      Hello, no I had to have them re done and then used a liner over the top.  Many dentists are not aware of the celiac effects.  Best of luck.   There is other material, yet, very expensive.

      He is not just a psychiatrist.  He is also a neuroscientist.  And yes, I have already read those studies.   I agree with benfotiamine.  This is short term while glutened/inflammation occurs.  As I had already mentioned, these symptoms no longer exist when this phase passes.  And yes, I know that celiac is a disease of malnutrition.  We are working with a naturopath.
