Corn Beef And Cabbage

Next week is St. Patty's Day and I love the meal. This is my second year gluten-free, but last year I was too scared to have the meal. I heard all sorts of horror stories about processed meat so I was afraid to try the corn beef.

Is corn beef one with gluten and if so what are the gluten-free corn beef options?

I always seem to come here when I have a question. Sorry 'bout that.. but this is still even a year into it quite new to me. I am planning on grocery shopping tomorrow evening but anytime in the next few days is great if you have an idea.

While I am on the topic, anyone have any great gluten-free St Patty's Recipes? I would love to try something neat like dye some food green (gluten-free of course.).

But most importantly is the question about gluten-free corn beef. St. Patty's is a pretty big day here - we take a lot of pride in our Irish ancestory so please let me know and THANK YOU SO MUCH IN ADVANCE!!!

Cook's is gluten-free and can be found at Sam's Club. I make corned beef and cabbage all the time with no ill effects (yes, i use the seasoning packet)

ENJOY!!

Kroger corned beef is gluten-free. Corned beef made according to regular recipes should be gluten-free.

I am ashamed to say I do not have a Sam's card for Sam's Club.

And yet again, I do not have a Kroger nearby. In fact, I haven't seen a Kroger in ages in any of our towns.

Hmm - we do have a Schnucks, Dierbergs, Queen's IGA, and a Walmart. Would any of them carry a gluten free corn beef?

And it doesn't really need to be corn beef I suppose, but a substitute is fine too. Anything that will have that same flare for St. Patty's Day. All your ideas were appreciated and all future ones are too. Thanks so much!

You might be able to find Cook's in a regular supermarket where they sell other Cook's products (Cook makes hams too, kind of ham you'd serve for Easter).

My local Acme sells Cooks--I would check with your grocery stores, possibly one of them carry it.

Hebrew National is gluten-free.

good luck! vital wheat gluten made me violently ill. I will touch the stuff ever again.

I wouldn't consider this lucky. I can NOT tolerate the symptoms. And I googled it and I was not even getting 10 grams of gluten per day and I was extremely ill. They'd have to put me in the hospital. I'm not kidding.   I will have my first appt with a GI dr on March 4th   I will not eat gluten again - at least not on purpose   they are going to have to come up with a test that doesn't require it.

What Thiamine Hydrochloride brand do you take? Is it like the other vitamins I have added? What brand Tryptophan and amount do you take. Thanks

I would not think store bought yogurt would contain gluten unless it possibly could be through an added flavoring or coloring ingredient. Otherwise, it should be naturally gluten free.  Keep in mind that some companies are capitalizing on people's fears and ignorance (nothing personal intended) by labeling foods "gluten free" that are just that way by the nature of what they are. They are hoping to create a marketing edge over their competitors by adding "gluten free" because they know it may catch attention of those new to the celiac/gluten sensitivity experience without having to cost them anything in the way of changing their manufacturing process or doing testing.

I believe the GFCO does use a common logo for certified gluten free products (those containing not more that 10ppm of gluten) but nothing universal yet from the FDA for standard gluten free products (those containing not more that 20ppm).
