Rose, First of all, don't be nervous! I admit, I was before mine, but it was fine. I actually don't remember a thing from shortly after they put in the IV, until I woke up. I felt fine when I woke up--I did not have the slightly sore throat. I had a little apple juice and got up and got dressed. I felt good enough to stop at Whole Foods on the way home. (I also had a colonoscopy that day). The only advice I have is to ask them to put you completely out for the procedure. Good luck--let us know how you do :)

Like Patti said, an endoscopy is usually no big deal. I have had 4 and at the most, I've just had a bit of a sore throat for a day afterwards. Depending on how much they drug you up :) You may sleep for several hours afterwards once you get home. I usually end up doing that. Make sure someon you trust goes with you...because you may not be very cognizant when they discharge you and go over the early findings. So having someone who can write things down or remember and tell you later is important.

Thank you. I have my husband taking me. He is really taking this whole thing lightly. I hope this will make him realize that I am really sick. You guys are so awesome. I will let you know my results.

It's really no biggie. The worst part for me was the stuff they sprayed in my throat, because it smelled and tasted awful. They're likely to use versed on you, so you'll technically be consious during the procedure, but you won't know it. You don't feel or remember anything. You'll probably say some really loopy stuff during your stay in dreamland  I know I did...

Make sure your Dr. either writes down what he needs to say to you, or that your husband pays really close attention. I don't have a clue about what the dr said to me after, because the versed hadn't worn off completely yet. I barely remember going home! I couldn't pick my dr out of a lineup because I only ever saw his nurse before or after the procedure <_<

Good luck! It's really not a big deal at all, I didn't even have a sore throat.

Here Is my update:

Well I go the office and he tells me it may not be Celiac. The other DR never ran the the Celiac Panel Blood tests. So he asked me if I have been eating Gluten and I say no. Well he says I can't have the Biopsy done without any gluten in my system. I had bread last night and it was not good. :(

Long story short, went and gave more blood this morning (3rd time!) and have the Biopsy scheduled for March 17th. Ughhhhhh

Oats naturally contain a protein called avenin, which is similar to the gluten proteins found in wheat, barley, and rye. While avenin is generally considered safe for most people with celiac disease, some individuals, around 5-10% of celiacs, may also have sensitivity to avenin, leading to symptoms similar to gluten exposure. You may fall into this category, and eliminating them is the best way to figure this out. Some people substitute gluten-free quinoa flakes for oats if they want a hot cereal substitute. If you are interested in summaries of scientific publications on the topic of oats and celiac disease, we have an entire category dedicated to it which is here: https://www.celiac.com/celiac-disease/oats-and-celiac-disease-are-they-gluten-free/
