POSITIVE ANA with Celiac Disease

I've recently had my second unexplained miscarriage and after the full 22 vile work up I've tested ANA positive which is an indication of an Autoimmune disease but generally connective tissue disease. Has anyone else had a similar experience? I am at very least gluten sensitive and am going to be tested for celiac because I do have the majority of the symptoms

I am sorry about your miscarriages.  Celiac disease can definitely contribute to fertility problems.  Thyroid issues can also lead to miscarriages.  Has that been checked?  If yes, did they check for thyroid antibodies?

A positive ANA can be attributed to celiac disease or other autoimmune like Hashimoto’s Thyroiditis.  The only way to know for sure is to get tested.  Do not change your diet as all celiac disease testing requires you to be on a full gluten diet.

I have recently tested positive for ANA and anti-smooth muscle antibody. Have been gluten-free for 11 years.  Now I am getting worked up for autoimmune hepatitis even though I have completely normal liver enzymes but I have an "elongated liver". I wish I had answers for you but it seems like more questions for me!!

My thyroid function was normal. I just did a celiac and food allergy panel today's and yes I've still been eating gluten but I feel so bloated and sick. My doctor is testing for RA too because I have so many inflammation markers. All of the test for lupus were negative.

Oats naturally contain a protein called avenin, which is similar to the gluten proteins found in wheat, barley, and rye. While avenin is generally considered safe for most people with celiac disease, some individuals, around 5-10% of celiacs, may also have sensitivity to avenin, leading to symptoms similar to gluten exposure. You may fall into this category, and eliminating them is the best way to figure this out. Some people substitute gluten-free quinoa flakes for oats if they want a hot cereal substitute. If you are interested in summaries of scientific publications on the topic of oats and celiac disease, we have an entire category dedicated to it which is here: https://www.celiac.com/celiac-disease/oats-and-celiac-disease-are-they-gluten-free/
