I’m not sure why there would be food restrictions other than nothing to eat for some number of hours prior to the procedure. The office doing the procedure should be providing you with instructions.

Yes they did just wanted to make sure . Can’t eat for several hours wanted to see what other people were doing when they had there endoscopy

Did anyone here have an endoscopy how did you feel after ? How long did it take for you to be feeling better ?

Hi Jane,

Instructions should be provided. I’m in the U.K. so it was nothing to eat 12 hours before then nil by mouth 2 hours before.
So, my diet prior, 3, 2 and 1 days before - for me it has been a very long time to have coeliac disease even recognised. I was still eating all the gluten laden food, bread, potato chips and I even ate things I really dislike - doughnuts and burgers.
I was apprehensive about endoscopy as I have had a dry mouth for nearly 30 years and a little difficulty with swallowing. But it was absolutely fine.
I do wish you all the best and it is very unfortunate that we have to undertake a gluten challenge to prove we have this autoimmune malabsorption disease.

Charliexxx thanks

i had the endoscopy I didn’t do the gluten challenge we will see what happens they took  some biopsy is that normal .

it sad so many good food have gluten in it  I stop gluten in February  after such a high ttg

Good that you did not have to eat gluten. Oops, I am so sorry that I got things mixed up with pre-endoscopy diet.

I am not the best person to ask regarding them taking biopsies as it is different rules in different countries. Hopefully, the more knowledgeable people on here will be able to inform you.
Best wishes

It is very normal to take one or more biopsies, even if the doctor didn’t see anything suspicious with the endoscope.

Your genetic test results confirm that you carry the highest-risk markers for celiac disease, specifically the HLA-DQ2 haplotype (while being negative for HLA-DQ8). The fact that both HLA-DQA1*05 and HLA-DQB1*0201 appear twice means you inherited identical copies from each parent, making you homozygous for these genes. This double dose of the DQ2.5 haplotype is significant because it indicates an even stronger genetic predisposition to celiac disease compared to those who only inherit one copy. Research suggests that people with this homozygous pattern may have a higher likelihood of developing the disease, potentially more severe immune responses to gluten, and a stronger...

It sounds like you and your daughter are navigating celiac disease with a lot of care and dedication, and it’s wonderful that you’re prioritizing her health and growth during this critical time. Since her antibody levels and growth have plateaued, tightening up her diet by avoiding eating out (except at dedicated gluten-free places) is a smart move—even if it’s challenging socially. Many parents of celiac kids report significant growth spurts once gluten exposure is minimized, so there’s hope she’ll catch up if her levels improve. As for the future, while her growth window closing may reduce some risks, celiac is lifelong, and staying as strict as possible will likely always be best...
