Gluten And Dairy Free Plum Sauce

Does anyone know of a safe plum sauce? I know that the Thai Kitchen's plum sauce is gluten and dairy free, but I would have to order it online. I would rather just buy a sauce at the grocery store if there was a safe brand there.

VH Plum Sauce. We use this. It's more for dipping, but it's available everywhere. (Only in Canada, eh? Pity.)

Oops. Edited to say that I don't know if it's Dairy free, but it's Gluten free. It's manufactured by ConAgra. I couldn't find an ingredient list on the website, and I'm at work, so I can't check my bottle.

It is dairy free also. I use the VH sauces.

Thanks! That's great! :) I should have thought about VH, I guess I forgot that they made a plum sauce.

I wanted to know what other VH sauces were gluten-free so I emailed VH about an hour ago and this was their response. Very quick!

My e-mail:

I have celiac disease and a wheat allergy and I can get severe reactions

from very small amounts of gluten (wheat, barley, rye, or oats) and

wheat . I have used your VH soy sauces with no problems, but I was

wondering if you had a list of other sauces that are gluten free as

well. Also, if any sauces are gluten free, are they produced on the same

lines as gluten containing sauces? Thank you for your time.

Their e-mail:

Thank you for contacting ConAgra Foods Canada Inc., with your questions.

ConAgra Foods Canada, Inc., has adapted a labeling policy to ensure

individuals with allergen concerns can choose our products with

confidence. If gluten containing ingredients are present in any of our

products it is indicated independently in the list of ingredients. In

addition, a secondary note in bold caption is below the ingredient list,

stating what the allergen is, i.e. CONTAINS: WHEAT

At this time our gluten free products include: VH Dips and Sauces

EXCEPT Teriyaki Stir Fry Sauce; Hunts' Puddings, Tomatoes, Pastes, Pasta

Sauces, including Healthy Choice and Manwich Sloppy Joe Sauce; Orville

Redenbacher Popcorn; ACT II Microwave Popcorn and PAM No Stick Cooking

Spray EXCEPT PAM for Baking.

NOTE: Re-formulation may occur possibly changing the information,

therefore we strongly suggest the ingredient label be reviewed with each

purchase.

We hope this information has been helpful for you and appreciate your

dedication to our products.

Sincerely,

Consumer Communications

I forgot to ask them about dairy. Ah well, dairy is usually quite noticeable in ingrendient lists.

Thanks for the post on this. I love it when I can add things to my grocery list that are safe.

I don't know if I am reading this right but I am reading it as Act II popcorn and Hunt's Tomato sauce and paste have gluten in them.

I thought that at first too, but I think that it's just the Teriyaki Stir Fry Sauce that contains gluten. I think that the sentance is just confusing, they should have started a new sentance. I've had the hunt's tomatoe sauce recently and didn't notice a reaction.

Carrie's right. All sauces gluten free EXCEPT Teriyaki. Then it goes on to the next item. Pam is gluten-free EXCEPT the kind that says "with flour" or "with wheat" or something like that in the title of the product. ConAgra is a company that will always put in bold: Contains: Soy, or Contains: Wheat, Contains: place top 8 allergen here. They just have a poor layout on their gluten-free list. I got mine by snail mail and it's all jumbled together. I had to input it into the computer by hand and lay it all out neatly for our binder.

I tried the Szechwan sauce in a recipe last night and so far I'm fine. I am very excited about all these new sauces and recipes to try out now! Here is their website if anyone is interested in trying out their sauces and recipes: Open Original Shared Link

Hi there @MCAyr I have a small umbilical hernia which came about during my second pregnancy.   I can just about see it, and feel it, when I stand or sit, but it is far less noticeable when I lie down.  I always know when I am putting on weight because I can get pain and burning near the site, funnily enough not on the hernia itself but either side!  I would imagine bloating could cause the same effect as weight gain. In my case I don't think it is my bowel protruding but a bit of fat  - sorry,  I realise this isn't painting a very pretty picture.  But in truth it is scarcely noticeable.  It has never really got bigger in size. I was rather hoping that it could be operated on but here in the UK they don't seem to operate on every hernia anymore.  My GP isn't remotely worried about it. In a way, I should be thankful - it is like an early warning system that I need to go on a diet! Cristiana

The hernia description would likely be unrelated to celiac disease, but you'd need to get it checked out by your doctor to be sure it's a hernia.
