Kan-101

Fabrizio Newbie

Good day ,

I'd like to know if the trial of Anokion for KAN-101 is terminated because it is not working or because they have enough information and data to pass to Phase 3.

Is someone in the trial?

Thanks

KAN‑101 is still very much in development and being actively studied. It has not been dropped—rather, it is advancing through Phases 1 and 2, moving toward what could become the first disease‑modifying treatment for celiac disease.

Dear Scott,

please check the link https://clinicaltrials.gov/study/NCT05574010?intr=KAN-101&rank=1

What do you think about it?

Scott Adams Grand Master

It looks like their most recent clinical trial just finished up on 5-22-2025.

Fabrizio Newbie

So? What do you think it will go ahead? Did you partecipate to this trial? what's the result for yuo? Thanks a lot for your answers!

Scott Adams Grand Master

I'm not in any clinical trials, can I ask why you are so focused on this particular one? There are now several celiac disease potential treatment drugs undergoing clinical trials.

Fabrizio Newbie

Hi Scott, i m focused on this because Kan-101 it s very good . Who tested it told me about the special results . Also Tak-101 can be the same . Do you know it?

Yes, we've been tracking possible treatments for many years, and here is one of our more recent articles:

Another one bites the dust! Oh well...

Fabrizio Newbie

What do you mean?

Scott Adams Grand Master

This isn't the first potential celiac disease treatment in the pipeline that failed. There have been others...

My Daughter participated in the trial and was cured for her celiac. I was looking forward to some day having the same experience but now the Trial has been terminated. I am trying to figure out if it is because of funding .

It said"The current study required to large a treatment group to provide statistically significant results"

Trying to figure out if that's code for "we lost our funding"

Here is another one that is currently active. I know someone who has recently signed up to participate in it: https://celiac.org/aspirion-us/

So just to be cautious, there is a big difference between cured, and responding to their medication. I assume you mean that your daughter responded well while taking KAN-101 during the trial, but the drug would not cure celiac disease, but may manage it while you are taking it. Let me know if I got this right.

It is more likely code for “we think there really was a good response to the treatment, but it was small or in a small percent of subjects so it would take a large clinical trial to try to prove it.”

Scott Adams Grand Master

I agree, and generally it means that it isn't working in a high enough percentage of participants to continue pursuing it.

Oats naturally contain a protein called avenin, which is similar to the gluten proteins found in wheat, barley, and rye. While avenin is generally considered safe for most people with celiac disease, some individuals, around 5-10% of celiacs, may also have sensitivity to avenin, leading to symptoms similar to gluten exposure. You may fall into this category, and eliminating them is the best way to figure this out. Some people substitute gluten-free quinoa flakes for oats if they want a hot cereal substitute. If you are interested in summaries of scientific publications on the topic of oats and celiac disease, we have an entire category dedicated to it which is here: https://www.celiac.com/celiac-disease/oats-and-celiac-disease-are-they-gluten-free/
