I went and got a tattoo today and the product the store sold for healing had wheat in it. Make sure you look before you buy! They recommended plain vitamin E as a replacement.

anytime my hubby or I have gotten a tattoo the shops recommended neosporin for healing... or any triple antibiotic ointment...

i had the vitE on hand, so it was fine, but i've been recommended polysporin, too, which is probably the same thing.

Guest nini

yeah, I think it probably is...

Use either triple antibiotic ointment or A & D ointment. A lot of the stuff the tat shops hock can pull the ink out :o

That's what the shop owner I used to work for said, anyway. She didn't sell any of them for that reason.

Don't use neosporin, as it makes the tattoo heal too fast and fades the color. My friend owns a tattoo shop, and he says that you shouldn't use ointments with healing properties for exactly that reason.

I think he's got a good point, because my first tatoo, I used neosporin and it faded pretty quickly, the next two I didn't and they still look great.

I am soooo glad someone started this thread! I got a tattoo 2 weeks ago today, and it looks terrible! I alternated between A&D ointment and Neosporin, and it has lost all of the color, but the black outline is still there. There are red bumps around the outside, and it is peeling/scabing/flaking really bad!!!! The tattoo shop is over an hour away, so I am not sure what to do! I went to the dermatologist on Monday, and she swabbed it for infection, but said that she would call me by friday if it was infected. I will go ahead and call on Monday to ask what the results were, but in the meantime, anyone know if this could be a gluten reaction?? I have never had anything like this before! Anyone know if anyone with an allergic reaction to the color ink?? Thanks, Tiffany

BTW, we've done other articles on this topic that I wanted to share here (not to condone smoking!):

Hi everyone  This has been a crazy year so far... How many people actually get entire sensory overload from gluten or something similar ?  My jaw is going nuts ..and that nerve is affecting my upper back and so on ...  Bones even hurt.  Brain fog. Etc  I had eggs seemed fine.   Then my aid cooked a chicken stir fry in the microwave because my food order shorted a couple key items .   I was so hungry but I noticed light breading and some ingredients with SOY !!! Why are we suffering with soy ? This triggered a sensitivity to bananas and gluten-free yogurt it seems like it's a cycle that it goes on.  The tiniest amount of something gets me I'm guessing the tiny bit of breading that I took one tiny nibble of ...yikes ..im cringing from it .. Feels like my stomach is going to explode yet still very hungry 😔  How long does this last?! Thank you so much

This is an older article, but may be helpful.

I have had orthodontic work done. The 3M invisalign material was no problem. BUT my retainers are another matter. They seemed okay for a few months. Now, however, they cause a burning sensation on my tongue, gums and insides of my lips. The burning sensation is now spreading to my throat. I notice it when I breathe. This is annoying and interferes with my enjoyment of eating. I am visiting with my provider tomorrow. We'll see where this goes from here.

Exactly which blood tests were done? There are a few different ones and some docs don't do them all. Also, your results and reference ranges for each?
