Where can I go for great seafood in Vegas? I've heard good things about the seafood buffet at the Rio, but is it safe to eat there? Any other ideas?

You might contact Broncobux as he lives in Las Vegas and goes out to eat frequently. We are also going to be in Vegas this coming weekend. We are staying at the Mirage.

Buffets are a tough sell for me...

I normally do not eat at the Buffets due to Cross-Contamination.

However, I have eaten at the Rio's seafood buffet. You can do it, just be particular on your food.

At the Rio, I just ate the raw stuff, the steamed stuff (crabs, shrimp cocktail, etc) and salad.

Don't eat the "hot items" with all of the other buffet items -- people mix and match the spoons and ladels too much.

Other restaurant that are gluten friendly (in my experience)

1. Samba at the Mirage (chef understands celiac -- Brazilian BBQ)

2. Stack at Mirage (same thing)

3. Carnegie Deli at the Mirage (get a reuben no bread -- bring your own)

4. PF changs in Aladdin

5. Cafe Ba Ba Reeba in Fashion show Mall (great Paella -- ask for a manager)

6. Maggiano's at Fashion Show Mall ( gluten-free pasta - ask for a chef for selections -- you can do the mussels appetizer - salad with no croutons and dressing on the side, Chicken Vesuvious, etc)

7. Hugo Cellars in 4 Queens Casino (Best Restaurant in Vegas in my opinion) -- Dressy place, in old Vegas, but their Filet and Lobster tail is the best!!!

I will be perfectly happy if I can just gorge myself on crab legs. So you think that those are ok at the Rio? Is the butter safe do you think? I've never been there, but husb has and he really liked it. I want to go somewhere that we can both enjoy.

Prime Steakhouse at the Bellagio has a cold shell fish appertizer that is awesome. Crab legs, mussles, shrimp, oysters. etc. It was very pricey but worth it.

Also, should be gluten-free since it is just fish - right?? I ate there prior to my Dx.

I have to second the Prime Steakhouse for the seafood tower. It will feed two and is a meal in itself. And yes, it is pricey, but totally awesome. I also ate there before Celiac. I would call them and ask, but I don't see how it could have gluten in it. The only concern I have is the sauce, but you could bring your own.

This treatment looks promising. Its aim is to provoke immune tolerance of gluten, possibly curing the disease. It passed the phase 2 trial with flying colours, and I came across a post on Reddit by one of the study volunteers. Apparently, the results were good enough that the company is applying for fast track approval.  Anokion Announces Positive Symptom Data from its Phase 2 Trial Evaluating KAN-101 for the Treatment of Celiac Disease https://www.reddit.com/r/Celiac/comments/1krx2wh/kan_101_trial_put_on_hold/

BTW, we've done other articles on this topic that I wanted to share here (not to condone smoking!):

Hi everyone  This has been a crazy year so far... How many people actually get entire sensory overload from gluten or something similar ?  My jaw is going nuts ..and that nerve is affecting my upper back and so on ...  Bones even hurt.  Brain fog. Etc  I had eggs seemed fine.   Then my aid cooked a chicken stir fry in the microwave because my food order shorted a couple key items .   I was so hungry but I noticed light breading and some ingredients with SOY !!! Why are we suffering with soy ? This triggered a sensitivity to bananas and gluten-free yogurt it seems like it's a cycle that it goes on.  The tiniest amount of something gets me I'm guessing the tiny bit of breading that I took one tiny nibble of ...yikes ..im cringing from it .. Feels like my stomach is going to explode yet still very hungry 😔  How long does this last?! Thank you so much

I have had orthodontic work done. The 3M invisalign material was no problem. BUT my retainers are another matter. They seemed okay for a few months. Now, however, they cause a burning sensation on my tongue, gums and insides of my lips. The burning sensation is now spreading to my throat. I notice it when I breathe. This is annoying and interferes with my enjoyment of eating. I am visiting with my provider tomorrow. We'll see where this goes from here.
