Does Anyone Here Have A Pda?

I'm thinking about getting a PDA to manage my gluten-free info, especially while travelling. I don't need anything fancy (read: I don't want to spend $500). If you have one, which one do you have and how much was it? Thanks.

I have a palm-based Treo 650, and I do keep my Clan Thompson's SmartList on it. I'm also working on a .pdf restaurant list for when I travel. I don't know the cost; it's my work phone.

I have a palm T l X. It's great, I love it and I have the Clan Thompson list on it. I also had DH put the Delphi list into acrobat and put that on there. It's a lifesaver. I think I got it for $260

I suggest you FIRST decide what you want to run, and SECOND decide which PDA. FOr example if you want to use the Clan Thomson smart list, you have to have a plam. I already have a PDA that my wokr provided, a Dell Axim, and while its a great gizmo, I can not use Clan Thomsons software on it.

I have a Palm Tungsten that I bought new off eBay. I had bought it for the purpose of downloading the Clan Thompson Smart List, but I found that after a couple weeks I really didn't need it anymore. But it did help in my initial few weeks of getting acclimated.

I'm not really interested in the clan thomson stuff, I used that at first but I have found more helpful things. What I want is something that I can use to look at .doc and .pdf files. It would be really helpful, for example, when I'm visiting my dad and he has something of brand X in the fridge that I want to eat or if we go to his grocery store and I can't find a brand that I am familiar with. I also want to have my restaurant info with me for when I have to travel and eat out at places that I am not familiar with. That is all I want it for.

Then Vincent's advice is still good. Either a Windows-based or a Palm-based pda will meet your needs. The preference will be somewhat personal. I think Palm is the way to go. Others will swear by their Pocket PC or Windows CE systems. I love my Palm-based Treo. Do you have cell service? Then you might want to consider a "smart phone" something like a Treo 650 (but there are lots of others) because then you only have to carry one gadget.

What have you found that you like?

Try to get down to a computer stor in your area and use a few dif ones and see which one you like best. One of the things I like about my Dell Axim is the "big" (for a PDA) full color screen. I dont use it nearly as much as I thought I would when I got it, but I would love to have something like the Smart list on it, esply when traveling since cant go to my "safe" stores and get my "safe" foods.

Other then specific programs like the smart list, I realy do not think there is much difference between FUNCTIONALITY of WindwsCE vs Palm, its personal taste. And Cost. Mine was free to me, so that made it the best choice. :D

I have a Palm T|X as well and like it very much. I've downloaded the Clan Thompson lists, but also have some excel and word files on there...seems to work fine.

I bought the Palm Z22 specifically for the Clan Thompson lists and for keeping appointments. It's a very basic model who's gimmic is that it's easy to use - and it is! Not only that, but it only costs $99. It does have a color screen as well. I have been very happy with it!

I have a very timid tummy after 13 years of strict gluten free.  If I try to eat like my pals, I burn.

I particularly try to get lots of red meat, mostly beef.  I'm slightly anemic, which isn't uncommon in celiacs.  Red meat is healthy for us and the environment.

I had lyme disease for about 14 years and was also diagnosed with celiac disease about midway through.  I had bad leaky gut food and chemical sensitivity like crazy dental issues I had to go on a really strict diet for 4 years to heal my gut and see a lyme Dr to heal the lyme disease  Both sides of my family are celiac
