after you quit eating gluten, how do you get it out of your intestine? it feels like i'm still not absorbing my food very well.

How long have you been gluten free?

Guest queenie

have been gluten free for about four days

the gluten itself leaves the body fairly quickly (it's probably gone by now - average clearance times are 12 to 60 hours), but the chemical reaction it starts can continue for 5 to 10 days, and the recovery of the intestines can take longer.

Unfortunately, it takes longer than 4 days to start absorbing things normally again. Even though you may not have any gluten in your intestines, the damage that has been done in the past could take months to heal (the healing time depends on how badly damaged the vili are). I've been gluten-free for over 4 months, and I'm still not absorbing foods well, and the doctor said that it could take another 4 or more months to be better.

Good luck with everything and I hope that you feel better soon.

Its not a matter of clearing gluten out, it's healing the damage that you already have. I'm 10+ months gluten-free, and while I've made good progress, I'm not there yet. It'll happen, it just takes time :)

Thank you that’s really helpful, hopeful won’t have to have a biopsy.

That means the normal range (i.e. not celiac disease) would be a result less than 14.99.  Your result is WAY above that. Some gastroenterologists would diagnose that as celiac disease even without a confirming biopsy because it is more than ten times the top of the normal range.

Hi everyone. Back in 2022 I had blood work drawn for iga ext gliadin. Since then I’ve developed worse stomach issues and all other health issues. My doctor just said cut out gluten. He did no further testing. Please see my test results attached. I just need some direction cause I feel so ill and the stomach pain is becoming worse. Can this test show indications for other gastrointestinal diseases?

Thank you. These were the results TTG ABS NUMERICAL: > 250.0 U/mL [< 14.99]  Really don’t understand the results!

Clearly from what you've said the info on Dailymed is much more up to date than the other site, which hasn't been updated since 2017. The fact that some companies might be repackaging drugs does not mean the info on the ingredients is not correct.
