Trix Cereal

I found the newer Trix cereal without gluten and bought it last night, along with the newer Cocoa Puffs. I held the box for a good hour debating with my huband why we shouldn't buy it. He won. I brought it home, and the only other times I'd seen my son this excited is during Christmas and his birthday. He literally ate half the box, while I cringed. I thought, well, what the heck. This poor kid doesn't even eat out anymore, I'll give this a try. It was great! No problems.

So this morning I decided to call General Mills to discuss the cc issue everyone was worrying about. They assured me that they clean their production lines REALLY WELL because they need to ensure that people aren't getting any of the major allergens in their food. So I'm not so worried anymore. I know barley, oats and rye aren't considered major allergens, but if they clean their lines really well for wheat, milk, peanuts, etc., and they aren't adding any wheat, barley, oats or rye to this cereal, then I must conclude that it's safe for our consumption! :)

I am so mad.....I am so sensitive to gluten I have tryed trix and I always get sick <_<

This really s*cks

But I am glad to hear that your son has no problems.

Acutally it was pretty funny, the one morning that I tyred eating it, my little brother sat down and asked if he could have some. So I gave him some. Well, I got sick and ended up giving him the entire box. He was so excited that I gave him a box of cereal. It was so cute :)

Thanks for checking on this...I'll have to buy some Trix for my daughter. I just bought some Fruity Pebbles (but that's not GM is it?) and my kids were so excited.

It's funny that we used to be such "healthy" eaters - no sugar cereals in our house, and only whole wheat breads and we ended up sick. Now we have to eat sugar cereals and white (tapioca) bread to stay well!!

Go figure!!

yea...i'm super sensitive too apparently.....but i tried to cocoa puffs and just couldn't stomach it, so i didn't bother trying the trix...i used to be a much bigger risk taker..

We have not tired the trix yet, but Cocoa Puffs, Fuirty Pebbls, and Cocoa Pebbles all seem fine with my son so far...

are you sure it was the NEW trix? I haven't been able to find the NEW trix in any of my local grocery stores yet. They still have the old boxes that still have wheat starch in them.

yup yup i checked and double checked and then checked again. then my boyfriend checked and he double checked and then checked again.

Then my mom did also. Maybe I am just to sensitive.

But I live in Miller Place on Long Island and purchased both boxes at a Stop and Shop. They have them here. That stinks that they dont have it by you yet. Sorry

when i was younger i would always get sick fromfruity pebbles, your not the only person who is sensitive.

This may be kind of a silly question, but why are NEW Trix gluten-free and corn pops are not?

Are they not both the same thing?

Just curious.

minibabe - There's a chance you're allergic to the food dye. A cereal like Trix has a lot of food dye in it, more than you get with most food. So that could be causing a problem.

Nope.

Corn pops are made by Kellogs not General Mills so forumal chnages as GM would not effect them.

      Are Lindt chocolate balls gluten free?

      Wondering if anyone knows whether Lindt chocolate balls are gluten free. The Lindt Canadian website says yes but the Lindt USA website says no. The information is a bit confusing.

      Shingles - Could It Be Related to Gluten/ Celiac

      I had the same thing happen to me at around your age, and to this day it's the most painful experience I've ever had. For me it was the right side of my head, above my ear, running from my nerves in my neck. For years before my outbreak I felt a tingling sensation shooting along the exact nerves that ended up exactly where the shingles blisters appeared....

      I have been diagnosed with celiac in 1994, in remission not eating wheat and other foods not to consume  my household eats wheat.I have diagnosed sibo, hernia ibs, high blood pressure, menopause, chronic fatigue just to name a few oh yes and Barrett's esophagus which i forgot, I currently have bumps in back of my throat, one Dr stated we all have bumps in the back of our throat.Im in pain.Standford specialist really dismissed me and now im really in limbo and trying to get properly cared for.I found a new gi and new pcp but its still a mess and medical is making it look like im a disability chaser when Im actively not well I look and feel horrible and its adding anxiety and depression more so.Im angery my condition is affecting me and its being down played

      I had the same thing happen to me at around your age, and to this day it's the most painful experience I've ever had. For me it was the right side of my head, above my ear, running from my nerves in my neck. For years before my outbreak I felt a tingling sensation shooting along the exact nerves that ended up exactly where the shingles blisters appeared. I highly recommend the two shot shingles vaccine as soon as your turn 50--I did this because I started to get the same tingling sensations in the same area, and after the vaccines I've never felt that again.  As you likely know, shingles is caused by chicken pox, which was once though of as one of those harmless childhood viruses that everyone should catch in the wild--little did they know that it can stay in your nervous system for your entire life, and cause major issues as you age.
