Yes we use... Colgin Natural Hickory Liquid Smoke that we get at the local food store. Thier site lists it as Gluten Free and MSG free.

You use it in cooking, to flavor meat with a smokey flavor like in BBQ fare. At least that is the main use I know of.

@Steph 86

As of July 2018, the Colgin website states that their liquid smoke is gluten free.  Of course formulas change, so you should read the label.  Carmel color is usually gluten free and derived from corn in the USA.

Glad you are here on celiac.com.  The gluten-free diet can be so confusing and we need to help each other!

I use the Colgin in my catering with ribs, burgers, etc to give added flavor. It is honestly the only one I have found that is safe. I do have one customer that has issues with tannins who can not handle it though. The caramel color is normally derived from corn in the United States, other countries might still use wheat.....but I found it does not even effect my corn allergy so it must be processed to remove the proteins from the corn.

      Thanks rmj when I first rang up it was we can't do it without , but I talked to a lovely lady and she sorted it all out for me, so it pays to be persistent , I would have had to decline if I hadn't been given the water option too , so yes I'm glad too 😌

      I’m so glad they listened to your concerns!  I hope you get some answers from the MRI.

      Had my MRI today I didn't have to have the manitol with my allergy's , I just had a litre of water , they were great with my concerns , so let's see if anything comes of if will keep posted once I have results 👍

      Thank you ,it’s been a long road for me for having both now ,what upsets the most is that if they discovered that I also have cealiac earlier I would not have injested gluten if I was aware. Double whammy.
