Mango04 - Then what??

Oh - you mean the cookies? Sorry I'm not really a recipe person. I just kind of throw stuff together and hope it works. :)

Basically you just mix the peanut butter, egg and sugar. That much makes about six cookies, so you can double the recipe for 12. I put them on a greased cookie sheet and bake at 350 for about 10-15 minutes, but I have a really old oven that gets really hot, so cooking times/temps may vary :D

Where is the best place to shop for all these wonderful foods? I am new on the board and live in an isolated rural area. I will have to order everything through the mail. I do get to Lincoln, Ne about twice a year. What are the best store chains to shop in if I do get to a city?

If there is a Whole Foods there, you could try that. They're expensive though.

If you cook from scratch, look for an Asian grocery. They have all sorts of gluten-free flours SO much cheaper than other stores.

*Best Bread = Everybody Eats Challah Bread

*Best Bagels = Glutino was good but since I like no casein I usually tolerate Kinnikinick

*Best Pasta = Bi Agult

*Best Pizza = Own recipe***KINNIKINICK PIZZA crust was awsome, slathered it with olive oil on both sides, used prego original and added some extra italian medley seasoning, cooked the crust w/sauce till crust started to tan a little then I topped it with tofutti mozerella slices and put it back in the oven to melt. I cooked sweet italian sausage w/green peppers stove top. I took about 6 pieces of the sausage and some green pepper and put it on. Each bite was heavenly. The crust came out chewy on the inside/brown on the outside and every bite was great. The pizza was just as good as any I've had. (I also let Kinnikinick know this:)

*Best Crackers = Glutino

*Best Cereal = Fruity Pebbles:)

*Best Waffles = I've used Namaste & Kinnikinick both are good tasting but lack the consistency I liked in wheat waffles...still searching

*Best Donuts = Vanilla Iced Kinnikinick but I'm dying to try the Celiac Specialties

*Best Cupcakes = Grainless baker. A local supplier sells there vanilla cupcakes w/vanilla frosting...cupcake is made with rice milk and taste & looks just like the stop and shop store brand.

*Best Cake = Grainless Baker, Glutino-->its gluten-free & Cf

*Best Cookies = Kinnikinnick Vanilla Oreos, Chocolate Oreos and Ginger Snaps... Also Enjoy Life has a soft baked chocolate chip cookie thats allergen free and very good.

*Best Candy = Dots

*Best Ice Cream = Temptation Non Dairy French Vanilla...yummy with chocolate oreo kinnitoos ( Open Original Shared Link )

*Best Sorbet = Sinless Lemon Sorbet Coldstone Creamery in which I dump the kinnikinnick Gluten-free Casein-free graham cracker crumbs...crazy I know.

*Best Chips = Only know it when I see it. Its a tortilla/nacho chip I pick up at whole foods maybe garden of eatin??? and sometimes fritos

*Best Pretzels = Glutino

*Best Drink = Gatorade

*Best Frozen Meals = Ians Popcorn Turkey Corn Dog Meal and Chicken Nugget Meal as well as lots of the Amys Brand stuff

*Best Nutrition Bars = Glutino Gluten Free Breakfast Bars Apple and Bluberry

Adding One

*Best Cinnamon Rolls/buns = Everybody eats...I know its has casein...however i take some enzymes prior to eating and since casein is easier to get out of your system I sometimes once in a blue moon indulge. I'm jelous of the people who can always eat casein, whey etc..but I'm cool. Now I don't mess around with gluten under any circumstances...I just can't take any chances at all and its sooo not worth it.

Oh, I also leave my home with lunch /snacks packed as well as two slices of Gluten-free Casein-free bread that will slowly defrost. It helps if I'm out socially I like to be prepared.

I have my favourites, but probably not brands that will be American, so here goes

*Best Bread = My own in a breadmaker, I can chop and change the flavour.

*Best Bagels = I can't make them, and can't afford them, and I don't need them

*Best Pasta = I haven't found one, but the Healtheries Simple range is not too bad. But I find pasta is no longer my favourite meal, it is too heavy for me now.

*Best Pizza = Hell's Pizza. A chain of pizza shops with a speciality gluten free crust.

*Best Rolls = In the hay!

*Best Crackers = Corn thins and rice thins by Real foods (Australian)

*Best Cereal = Was Tropical Muesli by Healtheries, but have since given up cereal

*Best Waffles = Never tried one

*Best Donuts = The ones I used to eat

*Best Muffins = Muffin Break is the only type I have purchased. But I make my own

*Best Cupcakes = Mums in another life

*Best Cake = Cake, what is that?

*Best Cookies = Like cake, what is that?

*Best Chocolate = Cadbury is good, but I stick to Cadbury Flake as it is soy free.

*Best Candy = Is a marshmallow a candy? I love Mr Mallow's Marshmallows (Austrlian brand)

*Best Gum = Cheiwing gum or Xanthian? Neither.

*Best Ice Cream = Tip Top French Vanilla or Vanilla New Zealand brand)

*Best Sprinkles = Don't eat

*Best Sorbet = Don't eat

*Best Chips = Oven fried potato chips. Crisps are out as they could contain traces of flour!

*Best Pretzels = Don't eat

*Best Drink = H2O. Chi, or lightly flavoured waters H2go.

*Best Soup = Homemade

*Best Frozen Meals = Haven't had one for about a year, unless it has been leftovers that I froze

*Best Nutrition Bars = As in muesli bars etc? I don't go there, they all seem to have peanuts in them, don't need them anyway

I am a bit of a boring eater. My biggest things would be bread and maybe a homemade muffin. I try not to buy substitues as they are so expensive and the manufacturers don't seem to mind all those extra additives! Hardly any treats, but this way I have come a long way in recovery.

I just found this site and want to say a big thanks to everyone for this food list. My husband is gluten and lactose free. We didn't know some of these foods were o.k. for him to have. He tested negative, which we were told is possible. He follows the diet anyway because he feels sick (stomach pains, etc.) if he eats the wrong foods. I'm diabetic and salt restricted. This makes for interesting meals at my house. lol :)

I saw Prego sauce listed in a post with a suggestion for pizza. Is Prego gluten-free? We usually get Amy's or Enrico's for him. I actually like the taste of both of them better than my regular jar sauce. Thanks again for the info.

@Nacina, I would add a B Complex to all that and extra thiamine B 1 and magnesium glycinate, and high dose Vitamin D to get his level up faster.   We need the B vitamins to repair our body and for energy to function.  Thiamine B 1 is especially important for athletes.  Thiamine works with magnesium.  Thiamine and magnesium deficiencies can cause constipation.  All eight essential B vitamins work together.  Due to poor absorption in celiac disease, supplementing with B vitamins boosts our ability to absorb them.  Here's some reading material that is helpful... An open-label, randomized, 10 weeks prospective study on the efficacy of vitamin D (daily low dose and weekly high dose) in vitamin D deficient patients https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC6618212/ Micronutrients Dietary Supplementation Advices for Celiac Patients on Long-Term Gluten-Free Diet with Good Compliance: A Review https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC6681258/ The Effects of Thiamine Tetrahydrofurfuryl Disulfide on Physiological Adaption and Exercise Performance Improvement https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC6073388/ The Effect of a High-Dose Vitamin B Multivitamin Supplement on the Relationship between Brain Metabolism and Blood Biomarkers of Oxidative Stress: A Randomized Control Trial https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC6316433/ B Vitamins: Functions and Uses in Medicine https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC9662251/ Vitamins and Minerals for Energy, Fatigue and Cognition: A Narrative Review of the Biochemical and Clinical Evidence https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC7019700/ A functional evaluation of anti-fatigue and exercise performance improvement following vitamin B complex supplementation in healthy humans, a randomized double-blind trial https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC10542023/ Effects of thiamine supplementation on exercise-induced fatigue https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/8815395/ The effects of endurance training and thiamine supplementation on anti-fatigue during exercise https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC4241913/ Hope this helps!

Hi all.  I am an 18 year old male. Recently I had anti ttg-igA tested and it came back as 9.1 IU/ml (weak positive) (increased from previous test which was 5.6iU/mL) . What does this mean please? I am booked for an endoscopy however, i am negative for both HLA DQ2 and DQ8. I have a family history of coeliac.
    • Tanner L
Yes and variations in their sources for natural and artificial flavors could be the culprit as well.  I might be on the more sensitive side, but I do fine with McDonald's fries and burgers if I take the bun off, and other foods that have certified gluten free ingredients and only cross contamination risk preventing the gluten-free certification.
    • trents
Yes, the yeast could have been cultured on a wheat substrate. But another batch may use a yeast extract cultured on something else that did not contain gluten. These food companies will switch suppliers according to what is the cheapest source at any given time. I take it you are a pretty sensitive celiac.
