Test Results In!

Hi again!

I was able to get my test results back from the Doc. Can anyone tell me what they mean. All she said was that they were mildly abnormal for Celiac.

Gliadin AB: IgA= 7

Gliadin AB: IgG= 20 HI

Tissue Transflutaminase IgA = 5

I've order a test through Enterolab. Looking forward to finally getting to the bottom of this. What is DH?

THANKS!

DH is Dermititis Herpetiformis (the skin version of Celiac).

Did your Dr run a total serum IgA? The reason your IgA numbers are low could be b/c you have an IgA deficiency (some people do) or b/c they are normal. There is no way to tell without the total serum IgA number.

Your bloodwork is what my dr would call "funny" A positive IGG is not very specific, indicating it can be + for other things. Your IgA and your ttg are both "normal"; however it is possible you are IgA deficient.

My bloodwork came out simliar; I had a + Iga, a neg IgG, and a neg ttg through standard serology. Through enterolab I had a pos Iga and ttg.

One of my children had a positive IgG test, just like you; however further testing through enterolab showed a neg IgA and ttg.

In a nutshell, your compass is pointing in the direction of celiac/gluten intolerance. I would test further, or try a gluten-free diet to see if you feel any better!

i don't think that you will get a "normal" reading if you are IgA deficient----however, a total serum count would tell you for sure. one of my kids is IgA deficient. everyone else in the family either tested high (the ones with celiac) or in the normal range. ian tested abnormally low.

BTW, we've done other articles on this topic that I wanted to share here (not to condone smoking!):

Hi everyone  This has been a crazy year so far... How many people actually get entire sensory overload from gluten or something similar ?  My jaw is going nuts ..and that nerve is affecting my upper back and so on ...  Bones even hurt.  Brain fog. Etc  I had eggs seemed fine.   Then my aid cooked a chicken stir fry in the microwave because my food order shorted a couple key items .   I was so hungry but I noticed light breading and some ingredients with SOY !!! Why are we suffering with soy ? This triggered a sensitivity to bananas and gluten-free yogurt it seems like it's a cycle that it goes on.  The tiniest amount of something gets me I'm guessing the tiny bit of breading that I took one tiny nibble of ...yikes ..im cringing from it .. Feels like my stomach is going to explode yet still very hungry 😔  How long does this last?! Thank you so much

This is an older article, but may be helpful.

I have had orthodontic work done. The 3M invisalign material was no problem. BUT my retainers are another matter. They seemed okay for a few months. Now, however, they cause a burning sensation on my tongue, gums and insides of my lips. The burning sensation is now spreading to my throat. I notice it when I breathe. This is annoying and interferes with my enjoyment of eating. I am visiting with my provider tomorrow. We'll see where this goes from here.

Exactly which blood tests were done? There are a few different ones and some docs don't do them all. Also, your results and reference ranges for each?
