Arrrgh! Gluten Free Isn't Iodine Free

I have been losing a lot of weight since they discovered diabetes in addition to my celiac about 2 months ago. I started drinking Wegman's gluten-free 'Nutritional Supplement' last week to gain some back. I added 6 a day to my diet and have managed to gain but 3 or 4 lbs but the cost has been dear. My last DH sore had finally been healing but I had noticed it had reactivated along with the I am pooping molten lead blisters you know where. I attributed this to CC from a final through cleaning of my birds cage. I noticed yesterday my BM's had gotten real dark so I decided, much too late :( , to check how much iron was in the stuff I was drinking. It is loaded with Iodine also! I am so stupid sometimes it amazes me. If I was a dog I'd be doing a 'booty skoot' across my rug. :P:angry::D . Oh well I am done venting. Or maybe not. I hate this, I look like a stick, I live under a cancer fear cloud, and I really, really, really hate the doctors that misdiagnosed my whole family for years. There now I'm done.

Ravenwood, that sounds awful! I'm so glad that you thought to look further and figure out the cause of those symptoms. Don't feel stupid--we have to be food detectives and chemists, both, and sometimes things will slip by. The important thing is that you figured it out. Here's hoping that it all clears quickly. :)

uh oh...What's wrong with idodine?

It will trigger DH sores. Mine had finally started to heal completely after I found this out and switched vitamins. Each shake I consumed had 25% of the daily requirement. I was consuming 6 a day.

Thanks Patti I hope it does too. Feels like the last time I wore a panty liner but at least the stuff was gluten-free so I don't have any tummy troubles. This too will pass and I promise myself to never, ever take or use anything without reading the label.

Well, I'm sorry that you had this episode, but I'm surely glad that you wrote about it! I'm having some trouble with DH blisters and had completely forgotten about iodine myself. Ate some salmon, and my scalp bloomed gloriously  with blisters. I was racking my brains before you wrote about your experience.

Thanks for ranting!!!!

I hope they go away soon.

"My scalp bloomed gloriously with blisters" Now THAT is poetic...and very true!

I would not think store bought yogurt would contain gluten unless it possibly could be through an added flavoring or coloring ingredient. Otherwise, it should be naturally gluten free.  Keep in mind that some companies are capitalizing on people's fears and ignorance (nothing personal intended) by labeling foods "gluten free" that are just that way by the nature of what they are. They are hoping to create a marketing edge over their competitors by adding "gluten free" because they know it may catch attention of those new to the celiac/gluten sensitivity experience without having to cost them anything in the way of changing their manufacturing process or doing testing.

I believe the GFCO does use a common logo for certified gluten free products (those containing not more that 10ppm of gluten) but nothing universal yet from the FDA for standard gluten free products (those containing not more that 20ppm).

I have a One Pot and decided to start using it one day. I was hesitant at first making my own yogurt, but was surprised at how easy it was. I like mine better too.

Because I spend so much time reading every word on all food packaging, I personally would greatly appreciate it if there was one common gluten-free symbol written in large-enough text, and always located in the same place. That alone will make shopping easier and faster. I dread having to buy packaged food. Thank you very much for asking,

I do believe that people are under so much pressure up have a sleeping  pattern ,  with working and how households work these days , but in reality there is no wrong or right at to sleep , I believe your neighbour showed this with such a long life , I do exactly the same  at night many times so I hope I live into my nineties also , I have found one thing in life your body knows what's best so good to listen to wat it needs however unconventional that maybe 🤗
