I didn't realize that the lactose test and dairy allergy test were different. I told DD doc. last week that I wanted her to have the dairy allergy test done to see if she was allergic to milk and he did the lactose test instead. This really makes me mad b/c that same day he had another Celiac blood panel done on her to make sure that she was glutened by something that was causing her bloating. They could have stuck DD one time and drawn extra blood for the food allergy test. Now we have to go and get stuck again tomorrow.

BTW, her celiac level is suppose to be a 3 and it's a 4 which shows that she's got a very tiny amt. of gluten from somewhere. That's what the nurse said anyway.

Thanks.

How frustrating! It is so painful and hard to get them to do blood tests to begin with and now have to go back again. Yuck! And your daughter will definitley remember too. How old is your daughter? Kirsten got stuck 4 times yesterday trying to get enough blood for all of her celiac panels and she was not a happy 18 month old. Dr ordered allergy tests too. I hope he wrote down the right ones. I emphathize with you. Hope the next stick goes well the first try. Kendra

We got a rx for a topical lidocane cream. You put it on thick about an hour before the blood draw/shot and it numbs the area. We call it the magic cream!!

Well my DD is 9 almost 10 but she still hates needles. I hate it for her too. Unfortunately we probably won't have time for the cream but I'll remember it for next time. I need cream like that when I get shots. ha ha I haven't had my tetnus in years. I'm way over due I am just too scared of needles.

I believe the allergy test is called a RAST and it covers all the major allergens so hopefully, it was ordered correctly.

I’m having this type of MRI this afternoon,  What specifically do you want to know?  From what I’ve read, not all facilities use the same drink prep.

Hi I've been told I need a MRI on my bowels , I was booked for a colonoscopy, but because of my sever back issues and trapped nerve it can't be done , the nurse told me I will have to have a manitol drink a hour before the scan , I'm just a bit worried has I have issues with sweeteners like even a little,  I get a weird throat and ears and I've read it is a similar substance , not sure if anyone has had one of these scans or could give me some advise on the drink prep thanks in advance 😄

Hi all ! Can a celiac attack be so intense that it causes your entire body to work in reverse? Meaning really bad pain,  neuropathy and muscle,  jaw pain,  the stomach issues , Horrible anxiety and confusion??  I had a Tums and you would think I ate poison. My jaw and stomach did not like it . Not the norm for me. Things that are simple are just out of control. Anyone ever have this happen??  I'm trying to figure out what I ate or did to bring on a celiac like attack. I had an idea before but yesterday I didn't have any gluten unless it was in a medication ?! Any positive suggestions ??  Thank you

The following two lists are very helpful for anyone who is gluten sensitive and needs to avoid gluten when shopping. It's very important to learn to read labels and understand sources of hidden gluten, and to know some general information about product labelling--for example in the USA if wheat is a possible allergen it must be declared on a product's ingredient label like this: Allergens: Wheat.
