i noticed that these orgran products, however i have never tried them before, i thought id wing it. I bought the all purpose flour, gluten-free crumbs, falafel mix...

Does anyone have any comments on this brand?

What sold me was they are made in a dedicated facility :D

Thank you for your enquiry and interest in Orgran products. We would like to advice that Orgran products are wheat free, gluten free, dairy free, egg free, non-GMO, suitable for vegan and can be considered as natural.

To answer your question, we would like to advice that we are implementing HACCP (Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point), which including approved supplier program.

The program assists us in ensuring that raw material supplied to are free from wheat, gluten, dairy and egg.

Although we process our product in a gluten free environment, however, part of our processing may out sourced out to a gluten containing product from another company. However, we can assure you that complete cleaning was carried out at the end of every shift and extra clean down is conducted when changing over from one product to another.

As a verification we conduct a routine gluten contamination analysis to ascertain the gluten status of this product.

I hope this information is some of assistance. Should you have nay queries please do not hesitate to contact us.

I was a little concerned about the "sourcing out" part of Orgran's response. I'm not using their products right now while I'm trying to heal...and I really miss their Muesli on my yogurt!!! It's yummy

I use their gluten-free flours all the time, and my two celiacs have had no reactions.

I make shortbread that they gobble up, and also pastry, so given how they react to some suspect things, I'd say Orgran are fine.

I think the statement is just very honest.

I find all thier products excellent, even though they are hard to buy in France if I see them I buy them :D especially the gluten-free cornflakes with amarinth.

I doubt any of the major manufacturers can do better ... they have to buy from somehwere and in this case they seem determined to state that part of this is outsourced but the fact they recognise this and are implementing testing gives me more confidence.

Its a bit lie a resto where the waiter nods and smiles and says its OK vs one where he says they will do there best and scrub down the kitchen, use seperate pans etc but that they made fresh pasta yesterday and some may have got into the air even though they scrubbed down the kitchen.

The first one probably never even considered the possibility so the latter is IMHO a better place to eat.

This is a very common practice for companies that are in the food industry. Most companies are too small to build their own factory and outsource that part of the operation to another company that already has a factory up and running. There was an interesting show about this on TLC? last night. Based on the e-mail I would try them. It sounds like they do all they can to make a safe product.

Having said all that I have never tried them :ph34r: None of the stores around here carry this brand.

We are big Orgran fans (gluten-free/cf) and never had a problem with their products either. Orgran doesn't do anything else but gluten free products, not like other companies that do gluten free as an afterthought because they think they can make a quick buck.

I agree, they seem to make an effort and are dedicated to gluten-free .... I buy their products whenever I can and they don't seem to do bum products (by which I mean the ones you think hmmm I'll try that and end up eating the cardboard instead!)

ps. The falafel mix is EXCELLENT :D

Have you tried the amarinth corn flakes? ..... WOW.... better than the 'real thing'

Seriously they don't seem to do (or its not exported) those products lthat are just plain horrible... everything they do seems to be good and my main problem is finding it!

I'm currently enjoying some Cinnamon & Sultana cookies. Pretty good. The pasta is decent, but not nearly on the level of Tinkyada (do they have Tinkyada in Australia ? :( ). I've also tried the instant tomato soup, which left me feeling quite sick all night, but I don't think it was a gluten issue. Oh yeah, and I tried a can of the spagetti-o things. I didn't think they were bad at all.

Falafel mix...mmmm...that I'll be on the look out for :)

One thing in general for gluten-free pasta is cooking time is critical.... with 'real'pasta you get a bit of lassitude with the timing but 10 seconds can turn gluten-free pasta from al-dente to a mush.

Each shape is different but I use the cooking time on the packets.. when I put them in storage jars I always cut off the cooking info and stick it in the jar then 1/4 of the time before start prodding/tasting etc. then as its just almost al-dente whip it out .. it will keep cooking in its own heat for a while and shake off the water which is holding in heat.

I find that different brands have different characteristics so if you are used to tinkyada then it might take adjustment ???

I've enjoyed most of the Orgran products I've tried, however my daughter and I didn't like the canned spagetti... thought it was yuck! But I absolutely LOVE the self rising and all purpose flours... they are awesome. the bread mixes I've tried I've found I had to dr. them up with more egg and liquid to get them to work right, but the taste was really good.

Not the case with Tinkyada. You can cook Tinkyada for hours and it's still good (okay maybe not hours but you get the point :) ).

      sorry a bit confused so I should take my B complex along with Objective Nutrients Thiamax for TTFD but what about a Benfotiamine to take. The Life extensions contains Benfotiamine and Thiamine together or im confusing myself. I am trying to see if I take Thiamax what should I take for Benfotiamine. Thanks EDITING after further research I see ones water soluble ones fat soluble. So I guess 100MG as you suggested of Life Extension contains Benfotiamine and Thiamine Hydrochloride. and the Objective Nutrients Thiamax contains TTFD.     would work for me.

      I put on over 12kg by eating protein with every meal, 3 to 5 times a day. Eggs, Chicken, Tuna, Turkey etc. I stay away from too much red meat as it can be inflammatory. Scott is correct. I've come across a bunch of Coeliac PT's on Tiktok and Instagram. They all say the same thing, the key is getting enough protein and consistency.
