Diet Sprite

I can't explain it. I know Coca Cola says all their sodas are gluten free which should mean no risk of x-contamination either (unless somebody drops their ham sandwich on the way to lunch ;) ) but I keep getting sick - burning, bloating - everytime I try to drink diet Sprite. My mother won't drink it at all. She's certain it's cc.

My question is has anyone else noticed something funny going on with Sprite?

Am I allergic to Lemon-Lime?

As a recently diagnosed diabetic I had switched to diet sodas and noticed problems with them. For me it turned out to be the artificial sweetners. I now drink water or half a can of regular soda and a lot of ice with a low carb meal if I feel I really, really have to have a soft drink.

It may be the aspartame. I sometimes get bloating and headaches when I ingest it.

I hate artificial sweeteners...they have tons of side effects and in my opinion are way worse than the regular sugar

i also always felt crappy after i drank diet sprite and it wasnt until i read a post on here about artiificial sweetners and i totally pinned it to those, beacuse the feeling was always after i drank my coffee ( with splenda) and whenever i had my diet sprite.

but if i took a sip of my husbands regualr coke i was fine.

so i really think its the artificial sweetners.

I agree. I started drinking diet drinks again after many years of avoidance. I have to start avoiding it again. I will not give my kids artificial sweeteners at all.

Thanks everybody! ^_^

I've always had headaches with Splenda but not Equal strangely enough. Maybe I'll buy some nice bottled water and some fruit juice, lay off the fizzy stuff for awhile. See what happens when I reintroduce Equal. :o

This is really helpful  I had not considered sugar alcohols or inulin as triggers. Thanks for the practical baking tips too color coding and baking G F first makes a lot of sense. Thiamax (TTFD) plus a B-complex, and if you want benfotiamine, the Life Extension formula covers that at ~100 mg.

High fiber can definitely cause sudden GI distress especially if it’s a new addition but accidental gluten exposure can feel similar. Keeping a simple food/symptom log and introducing new gluten-free foods one at a time can really help you spot the pattern. Thanks for asking  I’m mainly looking for gluten-free staples and snacks. Any recommendations for brands or go-to items would be appreciated.

sorry a bit confused so I should take my B complex along with Objective Nutrients Thiamax for TTFD but what about a Benfotiamine to take. The Life extensions contains Benfotiamine and Thiamine together or im confusing myself. I am trying to see if I take Thiamax what should I take for Benfotiamine. Thanks EDITING after further research I see ones water soluble ones fat soluble. So I guess 100MG as you suggested of Life Extension contains Benfotiamine and Thiamine Hydrochloride. and the Objective Nutrients Thiamax contains TTFD.     would work for me.

I put on over 12kg by eating protein with every meal, 3 to 5 times a day. Eggs, Chicken, Tuna, Turkey etc. I stay away from too much red meat as it can be inflammatory. Scott is correct. I've come across a bunch of Coeliac PT's on Tiktok and Instagram. They all say the same thing, the key is getting enough protein and consistency.
