Need "fancy" Dessert Recipe

I need to bring a "fancy" dessert to a function at church on Saturday. There are a few other people there who also avoid wheat and dairy, so I want us all to be able to eat it. Egg-free would be good too, but I can modify a recipe that calls for eggs or use one or two if I'm only going to eat one piece. I am a good cook/baker, so I'm not afraid to tackle a tough one, but I'm drawing a blank as to what to bring.

Any ideas? I don't want cookies, brownies, cake or pie. And I want to make it from scratch. Oh, and it needs to be something that can be easily served in individual pieces.

Is that a tough enough assignment?

Well... I was going to suggested an egg based custard, or lemon curd, maybe served on top of fresh berries. But that obviously is very heavy in eggs. Or I was thinking meringues. All my dessert ideas involve eggs. :P

Another thought is coconut crusted, dates filled with almond paste? Just made that up. Sounds good to me. :D

Chocolate dipped fruit?

Probably not practical for you unless you have a freezer. But a really good fruit sorbet?

The other day I made a delicious crisp in my crockpot (the recipe is on my site, but if you're a good cook and bake, i'm sure you have a delicious recipe yourself!). you could make shortcakes (or similar), and then bring int he crockpot, and they can pour some warm crisp overtop! (or maybe even just a compote)

Lemon curd mixed with frozen non dairy creamer (forget what you call that stuff), & some powdered sugar, spoon into individual containers, top with any berries, garnish with fresh mint leaves, serve on a saucer with a white doily, garnished with mint leaves dipped into non dairy chocolate, with a curl of lemon peel, or candied lemon peel (homemade is not that hard to do, but it has been years since I made it)

You could also make marzipan fruit.

In a bowl do lemon jello, let set until thick, then stir in fresh fruit (water mellon balls, honey dew balls, strawberries or raspberries) Not pineapple or kiwi and anything of that sort as the jello won't set. Put a layer of vanilla pudding, I used the jello instant, arrange fresh fruit on top in an attractive display and you have a very attractive and yummy dessert! I use a very pretty clear crystal bowl so the layers show.

A modified trifle?

Baked apples, tho it's hardly the season yet.

I have recipes for a Peach and Rasberry crumble (g,e,d - free) and a Baked Fruit Compote (g,e,d - free).

How about Mini Creampuffs filled with plain or flavored non dairy whipped cream and dusted with powdered sugar. I recently took these to a fancy affair set on paper lace doilies on a silver tray and they looked absolutely gorgeous; and they were also delicious.

      @Dora77, You shouldn't worry about getting glutened through your skin.  You would have to touch a gluten infested doorknob and then put your hand in your mouth.   I'd be more concerned with your mom's heating up gluten bread in the oven and boiling gluten noodles.  These methods cause particles of gluten to become airborne which would then enter your nose and be swallowed, going into your digestive tract.  I have to avoid the bakery aisle at the grocery store for this reason.  An M95 mask helps. If you get nutritional deficiencies corrected, your immune system will calm down and be less reactive to gluten expose.  Vitamin D helps regulate the immune system.  Thiamine and Niacin help make digestive enzymes which would help digest any accidental gluten exposure.  Thiamine helps Mast cells not to release histamine, an inflammatory agent released as part of the reaction to gluten, and also a neurotransmitter that causes alertness and anxiety, and the flight or fight response.  Pyridoxine will help improve the OCD.  Remember your brain is part of the body.  Vitamin deficiencies affect your brain and mental health as well as the rest of your body.

      I do not have evidence other than anecdotal but I am certain when I have gotten these it's the result of eating gluten (back when I did).  I don't get them now that I don't eat gluten.

      What really bothers me is if worrying about getting cc‘d from touching the same door knob as others touched is valid. Seems like an extremely unlikely way to get glutened but i read people saying that.    If thats true then theres realistically zero chance i dont get cc‘d in a non gluten-free household unless i Cook Everything myself and wash my hands multiple times in between and store all of my stuff separately

      Welcome to the forum, @Mrs. Cedrone! Among the various causes for canker sores, are "Nutritional problems like too little vitamin B12, zinc, folic acid, or iron" https://www.webmd.com/oral-health/canker-sores Could you be deficient on something?

      I have been a diagnosed Celiac for over 30 years.  If I even get any type of cross contamination I end up in the hospital.  Recently I have been getting "cankers".  I am assuming that this is a result from something I am eating.  any insight would be greatly appreciated.  I follow an extremely strike diet as result and this is something new that has popped up.  I still get very ache sometimes and fatigued.  Thank you.
