Substitute For Beer In A Collards Recipe?

I've got an excellent collard greens recipe that calls for a bottle of beer -- obviously, I need a substitute and there's no gluten-free beer on hand at the market that usually sells it (they have trouble keeping it in stock). Any ideas about what I could use instead?

Perhaps a woodchuck cider would work??? Or perhaps a water/vinegar/yeast combo????

I have used a hard cider to sub for beer in recipes.

I tried the cider in a couple recipes and didn't care for it. Now I just use chicken broth.

i usually use a hard cider, (normally blackthorn) for a beer sub. i've also used low sodium club soda as a beer sub in some recipes, it seems to work just fine. club soda is great if you just need the texture of the liquid, but if you're using the beer to add flavor, then you need to use something like blackthorn or other more beery sub.

My The Food Substitutions Bible by David Joachim recommends equivalent amounts of beer with chicken or beef stock + 2 dashes of Angosura bitters (optional) or red wine or sake. If you need the bubbly parts in a recipe, which probably isn't the case here, I'd recommend club soda, like for beer batters.

Totally recommend the above-mentioned book.

      Thiamine interacts with all the other B vitamins.  Thiamine and B 6 make a very important enzyme together. With more thiamine and other vitamins available from the supplements your body is absorbing the ones you need more of.  The body can control which vitamins to absorb or not.  You're absorbing more and it's being transported through the blood.   It's common to have both a Thiamine and a Pyridoxine deficiency.  Keep taking the B Complex. This is why it's best to stop taking supplements for six to eight weeks before testing vitamin levels.

      Yes I took a supplement that had B6 in it, low dosage though. I've stopped taking that. B1 doesn't affect other B vitamin levels?
