There's a haunted house around the corner from mine. A lady I know lived there for a while because it was the only vacant house in town when they move here (wonder why!). She has all kinds of stories. A man murdered his wife there, she haunts it, but just seems to like living there. A restaurant tried to move in, but closed down. Now there's a tea shop there. My son worked there all summer and nothing happened. I think this Victorian lady might like the fact that there's a tea shop in her old house, but she definately didn't like my friend's cat.

As for the puppies ... I think they're much more work than kids!! All the dogs we've ever had were a total pain in the neck!! Not that I don't like dogs ... I think pets are good. I have birds ... they like to cuddle, but they're noisy and messy.

Well......MY House of TError was a terrible thing (Carla - you read it! ) and resulted in what we fondly know as Susie's Nervous Breakdown. Not kidding....it was the most difficult thing I've ever lived through and while I can easily talk about it, not everyone really knows how to process or deal with someone's nervous breakdown.....but I have pondered starting a perky little thread on the forum called:

"Nervous Breakdowns - Who Here Has Had One? Let's Share Our Experiences!" ha ha ha - didn't think it would elicit too many responses - - I am being playful here but it was beyond horrendous and I dont' think I'll ever be the same...need nothing short of a miracle for that.

As for puppies, yes Carla, so much work...but there is a book I got when I got Tika, she was 9 weeks - it's called The Art of Raising A Puppy, written by the Monks of New Skete, who raise champion German Shepards. Best book I've ever read on selecting/raising/training/care of dogs - both my dogs were house-trained within three days, and have pretty impecable manners. Took TONS of work with my older girl - she was the most wickedly playful and strong-willed dog for the first few years, anyone else would have given her away.....

Sorry Beverly that so many difficult things are going on with the people in your life and around you. You've had your fair share as well.

As for puppies, I am going back and forth on getting another one. I lost mine (my 11 year old puppy ) a year and a half ago and it was so hard.

Susan, I did read it, but you didn't give much detail other than you felt every minute like you would feel if a man wearing a hockey mask and had a knife was hovering over your bed. It was like a teaser really ... I expected, tune in next week for the rest of the story!

I haven't been on in awhile and my account got deleted. But I'm baccckkk!

I just need to vent here. I just can't believe some of the things that people I know and care about are going through right now. We found this week that my good friend and old neighbor has such a rare form of blood cancer that there is NO name for it????????????WTF?????????????? It has spread to his lungs, stomach, colon and liver but since it's this unknown type of blood cancer that they can't even stage him and they have no idea what his prognosis is.

Then tonight, one of my friends in graduate school, who I had emailed for support because I'm having my exam defense on Monday and I thought I was stressed out, let me know that her baby (she's 4 months pregnant) has severe heart valve problems so they are seeing a specialist at Children's Hospital on Monday.

what is going on? I keep thinking things have just got to calm down for awhile and they never do.

Susie Girl- You CAN start a thread about Nervous Breakdowns. I'll bet there's more than one of us that for multiple reasons had had one or close to one.

I'm sorry you had such a scary experience! I do have some good news for a change today- I'll start a new thread (see I'm oficially a PhD candidate!). It, of course, was a bittersweet moment. My fourth committee member was Chelsea, the sweet doggie of one of my committee members. Right after my meeting she had to be put to sleep so it was like "Congratulations, you passed!" and then I had to say good bye to her. And I so wanted to call my mom. So, I told Chelsea that my mom would take good care of her when she got to Heaven.

But I want to focus on the good so I'm going to start a new thread. Life really is bittersweet.

OMG a nervous breakdown thread..yes I have at times used this forum as my online "personal" journal (that all the world can see) but that really is too much.... It could scare people!
