Mornin all!

I was just catching up on all the Sillie news I missed yesterday.....My son and his girlfriend came from NJ, and we all had such a nice day. And yes, there was wine involved :D I'm a fiend :PB)

I also need to go on a diet--way too much candy and cookies as of late--and all this talk of marshmallows, caramel and toffee is not helping :lol: M-m-m...toffee.....

Love The Sound of Music! If I had to choose, I would say "My Favorite Things" is my favorite song from it, but all of the music was so good.

I have to say, though, that I can't wait for Desparate Housewives to come back.....

I bet that was nice, get to show the house off :)

I spent Saturday with my mom at her house. It was a lot of fun. I exchanged gifts with everyone and got to play with Sabrina. I bought her this Playskool walker/riding toy. She enjoyed the box more than anything. It was an exhausting day though, since I drove 2 hrs to get there and 2 back...by 10 that night I was out. I slept through John watching the patriots/NYG game....darn! LOL :)

Good Morning Emily!

How are you on the last day of 2007?

Well, I just went and executed one of the toughest workouts in years. Pushed myself VERY hard on the treadmill, flames coming off my runners, etc., as damage control. I am not weighing myself...not until next week...or perhaps the week after.. :rolleyes:

She actually spent Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and the following day with her biological mom...and when my mom picked her back up at Child Services on Thursday, she found out the baby hadn't had a change of clothes the entire time she was "home" My mom peered in the diaper bag at all the clean clothes she sent, it was obvious none had ever been touched. Then the one pair of pajamas that she must have worn her whole visit, were literally pitch black....eww! My mom dunked her in the bath tub the minute she got her home.

So after my rant...sorry had to get that off my chest. So I saw her and we all gave her presents on Saturday. She is such a pleasant baby...she has been in the system since birth...her mom has supposedly done almost everything that she needs in order to get her child back. But when the baby's father comes along (mom's boyfriend) she forgets about the baby...even leaving it alone for hours...and now the baby comes back to us dirty. So I guess if the mom screws up again the baby will go for adoption. So in my eyes, why not allow her to keep screwing up and let the baby go to a family who wants her....an adoptive home. The system will keep delaying it and delaying it and by the time she is ready for adoption she could be 3 or 4...if not older and than her chances of getting adopted get smaller and smaller...people want babies. I know some people need those chances to prove themselves but look at the best interest of the kid....give her half the chance to have a great life....

Sorry for the rant.

That was so good--I love musicals! :D

My favorites are "My Fair Lady" and "The Music Man"--I saw the latter twice on broadway during it's run a few years ago. We were there for Craig Bierko's last performance, a Sunday matinee--I'll never forget it.

Nothing beats the original movie, though--this just mkes me happy--

Amanda........rant away. This is sooooo sad. :( My friend Gail is an attorney for the county, in juvenile court....she has seen some unbelievably heinous things. (she works to get babies/children placed in good homes.) we must pray for little Sabrina to find a good home sooner than later. She looks adorable. I want to PUNISH her stupid crack-wh_ _ _ mother....... (insert angry-faced emoticon)

and BTW let's clarify here.....I think I like the OLD musicals......the classics. Never minded watching them - in fact LOVED Sound of Music, Wizard of Oz, My Fair Lady, Oliver.......'tis true!!!!!! I think it's the newer ones.......OMG OMG OMG I borrowed Chicago from someone and lasted all of about 8 minutes - was FURIOUS - - - was DEEPLY TORTURED - - so skipped to the end and watched last scene......worst thing I've ever seen.

oh dear gaaaaaaaaaaawd.......someone gave me Moulin Rouge as a gift a few years ago......most painful cacaphony (sp?) of unimaginable visual and auditory torture - - I totally forgot about that - have blocked it out - - Jess - it may have been WORSE than Chicago :lol: :lol: :blink:

      I did ... But aren't we going to be vitamin deficienct if we are not eating due to being sick ?? If the food we eat is gluten free and we have other sensitivities , how do we get out of the cycle??  Thank you

      Anyone else get pins and needles. ??? Burning feeling ? Heat makes it so much worse 😔  Winter is here.  I had to lower my thermostat because I couldn't take that hot air feeling 😔  Hopefully it goes away soon

      I assume that you already know that genetic testing for celiac disease cannot be used to confirm a celiac diagnosis. About 40% of the general population has the genetic potential to develop celiac disease but only about 1% actually develop celiac disease. It can be used to rule out celiac disease with a high degree of confidence, however, in the case where the genetic testing is negative for the genes. Until and unless you are actually diagnosed with celiac disease I would not raise this as an issue with family. However, if you are diagnosed with celiac disease through blood antibody testing and/or endoscopy with positive biopsy I would suggest you encourage first degree relatives to also purse testing because there is a significant chance (somewhere betwee 10% and almost 50%, depending on which studies you reference) that they will also have or will develop active celiac disease. Often, there are symptoms are absent or very minor until damage to the small bowel lining or other body systems becomes significant so be prepared that they may blow you off. We call this "silent celiac disease".

      If you were off gluten for two months that would have been long enough to invalidate the celiac blood antibody testing. Many people make the same mistake. They experiment with the gluten free diet before seeking formal testing. Once you remove gluten from the diet the antibodies stop being produced and those that are already in circulation begin to be removed and often drop below detectable levels. To pursue valid testing for celiac disease you would need to resume gluten consumption equivalent to the amount found in 4-6 slices of wheat bread daily for at least two weeks, preferably longer. These are the most recent guidelines for the "gluten challenge". Without formal testing there is no way to distinguish between celiac disease and gluten sensitivity since their symptoms overlap. However, celiac disease is an autoimmune disorder that damages the small bowel lining, not true of gluten sensitivity. There is no test available for gluten sensitivity so celiac disease must first be ruled out. By the way, elevated liver enzymes was what led to my celiac diagnosis almost 25 years ago.
