You could always duct tape it to your arm...

Lefty is a smart cat. Whenever I come around the corner to the kitchen he comes racing out, as if he knows he's doing something he aughten'ed (sp?) and doesn't want to get caught. Comes up, stands and puts his paws on my thigh asking to be picked up.

Oh this Indianan says "dawned on me" also . . . she just doesn't spell it right . . . and thank you veddy much for going on and on and on about it so that I will wince everytime you mention it.

Just thinkin'.....Nikki must be havin' a rip-snortin' birthday! :D (at least I hope she is!)

Or still recovering from her BBQ . . .

Neighbors had a get-together last night. Five families total . . . 10 adults and 13 8/9 kids. It was a talent show/pizza party/baby shower (hence the 8/9 kid). Quite helarryus. (Mental note to self . . . really stay on top of school work as my kids have no particular "entertainment type talent" and will need to rely on a good job to make a living.)

. . . and lest I forget . . .

A big silly welcome to Max and Lefty. Probably best that they did not come as a "pair", less likely that they'll gang up on Lyle. I'm sure they'll settle in pHairly quickly.

I think I am right on the fence as to whether I really need to wear a bra...I think mine are big enough to warrant such a thing. But Susie, why do you wear one if it's not needed? They're such uncomfortable, HEINOUS contraptions....bah.......

bras are mainly only worn for WHITE shirts.......not really needed for any support sort of way. Bah! <_<

Yay for the kitties having a new home!!!! Yay for Jess taking them both!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! So pleased all around! And a big, wackl welcome to Max and Lefty............... :D

Janet - - what is this 13 8/9 kids........... Do you mean there were 13 8 and 9 year olds? All with talent, except your'n? oh this can't be true...........shur-leigh they are sillier than all the rest, combined........

Well sillies.................quite the perfect, fabulous weekend.........raining, both days so far......clouds, cold, damp and requiring blankets............could NOT be happier - - rain on Sunday.........my favorite-est thing of all................

Over to Kissey's now for a barbecue.........

But first -

so - Mommy did the dumbest thing.........got this skirt on ebay because, well, I am obsessed with ikat fabric. So............bought this skirt in size 22W (that is huge, BTW) thinking I'd cut it apart and make a new skirt for this upcoming wedding. Oh, it was goign to be so chic. (let me just mention - I don't/can't read patterns, and I am a heinous seamstress........but still, I do try   - 'tis funny and my sewing has been labeled as pure savagery, one must not really inspect the details.)

So the skirt arrived yesterday, adn today whilst watching movies w/ Kissey I decided to tackle the cutting apart of it, seam-ripper in hand.......well guess what - - it's not all one piece........'tis a gored skirt, in all these small segments, making another skirt impossible. <complete waste of $20, is what this is <_< >

so I cut it apart, announcing that I am DETERMINED to find a use for these remnants, such as, the flaaaaaaaaaaaahhhnnnnnnge for pillows er sumfin'............. at that moment I wrapped the fabric around Weezee's little dingo head.............and here's her pained photo

Kissey's fabric-wrapped head to be up for viewing at a later time...........

Happy weekend to all sillies, here, and north of here and abroad!!!!! :)

....oh and also, Janet, may I comment on how very phunny I find your very precise accounting of the actual number of humans and foetuses at the party. Mygawd...Susie! Annie looks like a Middle Eastern dog, in a mandatory hijab.

Hmmmm...wonder if female dogs in Iraq and Afghanistan must wear this headgear....

DH is coaching the Ripper's baseball team this season, and he recruited me for tonight's game as third base coach. Very entertaining - - boy, can I make a game one nail-biting and edge-of-yer seat experience....See, I take great risks, and bring this to any position into which I'm thrown relegated. So, I'm confidentally waving players toward me from second on a little infield blip, and shouting for them to continue home as they round third on a short pop-up. So funny...their faces (and those of their parents, I am certain), are like this  .

Well......we WON 14 to 4. All that aggressive coaching.....

I overheard one of the boys say to another as he came off the field, "That lady on third, tellin' us what to do.....she's NUTS!"

Jack looks over and, rolling his eyes, says, "It's my mom. I know"......

Good Morning, Sillies!

Oh! A superb birthday for Nikki...this is grand. :):) A nice, intense hangover fully installed....

Em's poodles look downright Regal!

:lol::lol:

They look something...Drugged? Restful? Actually, they are in three-quarter view...almost a profile. I think those visages could be on a coin.:lol: Yes, the newest entry into Canada's already coin-laden currency...Queen Liz in her spot on one side, and NO! Not an Inuit sculpture, or moose, or Houses of Parliament, on the other - - but a Regal Poodle Head.

I dunno WHAT's wrong w/ me today. Sooooooo tired & slowwwwww. Is it yesterday's failed popcorn test? No major immed issue but weirdness like scalp felt REALLY tight.

Ptaoughmhmn!! Um....how do you fail a popcorn test? Must you count the number of kernels in a huge jar? Must you pass a cup of unpopped kernels within a couple of hours? Keep none from sticking between yer teef? (Ugh, I'd fail that one, fo sho')... Is it MATHS of some sort?! Gahhhhhhhhhhh..... <_<

Jess!!! New av of your new family, please!!

Darn210 Enthusiast
Why does Weezee have a pair of blokes on 'er head???

Well, I don't think you get to say anything about the pants jockey's since you've got an av of a pig using a bat to cover his unmentionables!!:lol:

Me mum used to celebrate anniversaries of her 39th birthday. I don't mind telling people how old I am, I just can't remember and have to stop and do the mathS.

Well, I certainly hope so! Sounds like you had a heck of a great day (the parts you remember, anyway!) :D

Ehemilley and Soosie--I keep meaning to say that your new avs are so cute! Em--your poodles could be posing to be on currency--very regal :D Li' Weezie has a "Carmen Meranda" thing going on--and isn't quite sure about the whole thing! The blue does bring out her eyes, though :P

This has been the most incredible weekend--perfect weather, one son came to visit (wonderful surprise) and the other home safe and sound. Another room painted. Life is good :D

Thanks again for the detailed explanation. Just to clarify, I actually did have my initial tests done while I was still consuming gluten. I stopped eating gluten only after those tests were completed, and it has now been about 70 days since I went gluten-free. I understand the limitations around diagnosing NCGS and the importance of antibody testing and biopsy for celiac disease. Unfortunately, where I live, access to comprehensive testing (including total IgA and endoscopy with biopsy) is limited, which makes things more complicated. Your explanation about small-bowel damage, nutrient absorption, and iron-deficiency anemia still aligns closely with my history, and it’s been very helpful in understanding what may be going on. I don't wanna get Endoscopy and I can't start eating Gluten again because it's hurt really with severe diarrhea.  I appreciate you taking the time to share such detailed and informative guidance. Thank you so much for this detailed and thoughtful response. I really appreciate you pointing out the relationship between anemia and antibody patterns, and how the high DGP IgG still supports celiac disease in my case. A gluten challenge isn’t something I feel safe attempting due to how severe my reactions were, so your suggestion about genetic testing makes a lot of sense. I’ll look into whether HLA testing is available where I live and discuss it with my doctor. I also appreciate you mentioning gastrointestinal beriberi and thiamine deficiency. This isn’t something any of my doctors have discussed with me, and given my symptoms and nutritional history, it’s definitely worth raising with them. I’ll also ask about correcting deficiencies more comprehensively, including B vitamins alongside iron. Thanks again for sharing your knowledge and taking the time to help. I’ll update the forum as I make progress.

Blood tests for thiamine are unreliable.  The nutrients from your food get absorbed into the bloodstream and travel around the body.  So, a steak dinner can falsely raise thiamine blood levels in the following days.  Besides, thiamine is utilized inside cells where stores of thiamine are impossible to measure. A better test to ask for is the Erythrocyte Transketolace Activity test.  But even that test has been questioned as to accuracy.  It is expensive and takes time to do.   Because of the discrepancies with thiamine tests and urgency with correcting thiamine deficiency, the World Health Organization recommends giving thiamine for several weeks and looking for health improvement.  Thiamine is water soluble, safe and nontoxic even in high doses.   Many doctors are not given sufficient education in nutrition and deficiency symptoms, and may not be familiar with how often they occur in Celiac disease.  B12 and Vitamin D can be stored for as long as a year in the liver, so not having deficiencies in these two vitamins is not a good indicator of the status of the other seven water soluble B vitamins.  It is possible to have deficiency symptoms BEFORE there's changes in the blood levels.   Ask your doctor about Benfotiamine, a form of thiamine that is better absorbed than Thiamine Mononitrate.  Thiamine Mononitrate is used in many vitamins because it is shelf-stable, a form of thiamine that won't break down sitting around on a store shelf.  This form is difficult for the body to turn into a usable form.  Only thirty percent is absorbed in the intestine, and less is actually used.   Thiamine interacts with all of the other B vitamins, so they should all be supplemented together.  Magnesium is needed to make life sustaining enzymes with thiamine, so a magnesium supplement should be added if magnesium levels are low.   Thiamine is water soluble, safe and nontoxic even in high doses.  There's no harm in trying.
    • lizzie42
Neither of them were anemic 6 months after the Celiac diagnosis. His other vitamin levels (d, B12) were never low. My daughters levels were normal after the first 6 months. Is the thiamine test just called thiamine?
    • knitty kitty
Yes, I do think they need a Thiamine supplement at least. Especially since they eat red meat only occasionally. Most fruits and vegetables are not good sources of Thiamine.  Legumes (beans) do contain thiamine.  Fruits and veggies do have some of the other B vitamins, but thiamine B 1 and  Cobalamine B12 are mostly found in meats.  Meat, especially organ meats like liver, are the best sources of Thiamine, B12, and the six other B vitamins and important minerals like iron.   Thiamine has antibacterial and antiviral properties.  Thiamine is important to our immune systems.  We need more thiamine when we're physically ill or injured, when we're under stress emotionally, and when we exercise, especially outside in hot weather.  We need thiamine and other B vitamins like Niacin B 3 to keep our gastrointestinal tract healthy.  We can't store thiamine for very long.  We can get low in thiamine within three days.  Symptoms can appear suddenly when a high carbohydrate diet is consumed.  (Rice and beans are high in carbohydrates.)  A twenty percent increase in dietary thiamine causes an eighty percent increase in brain function, so symptoms can wax and wane depending on what one eats.  The earliest symptoms like fatigue and anxiety are easily contributed to other things or life events and dismissed.   Correcting nutritional deficiencies needs to be done quickly, especially in children, so their growth isn't stunted.  Nutritional deficiencies can affect intelligence.  Vitamin D deficiency can cause short stature and poor bone formation.   Is your son taking anything for the anemia?  Is the anemia caused by B12 or iron deficiency?
    • lizzie42
Thank you! That's helpful. My kids eat very little processed food. Tons of fruit, vegetables, cheese, eggs and occasional red meat. We do a lot of rice and bean bowls, stir fry, etc.  Do you think with all the fruits and vegetables they need a vitamin supplement? I feel like their diet is pretty healthy and balanced with very limited processed food. The only processed food they eat regularly is a bowl of Cheerios here and there.  Could shaking legs be a symptom of just a one-time gluten exposure? I guess there's no way to know for sure if they're getting absolutely zero exposure because they do go to school a couple times a week. We do homeschool but my son does a shared school 2x a week and my daughter does a morning Pre-K 3 x a week.  At home our entire house is strictly gluten free and it is extremely rare for us to eat out. If we eat at someone else's house I usually just bring their food. When we have play dates we bring all the snacks, etc. I try to be really careful since they're still growing. They also, of course, catch kids viruses all the time so I  want to make sure I know whether they're just sick or they've had gluten. It can be pretty confusing when they're pretty young to even be explaining their symptoms!
