Coughing Up Phlegm?

I guess this is more of a soy/dairy question.

I've been coughing up a lot of phlegm lately. It seems like dairy products make it a lot worse (which would make sense because I have a milk allergy). Today I started coughing up a lot of phlegm after I had soy milk.

Any ideas why this suddenly started happening? It was never a problem until the last month or so. The phlegm is whiteish/yellowish color from what I've seen. I went to my doctor and she said it's not an infection. I'm taking advair and singulair, but they don't seem to help too much.

It sounds like you have a respiratory allergy, and that Advair and Singulair are not the right drugs to help you with it. I use Actifed for mine.

I don't know the typical ingredients in soy milk, but I know soy cheeses often have casein, which is the primary milk protein. So if you switched brands or the company changed the ingredients, that might do it I suppose. Of course it could be something else which you aren't yet thinking of.

hi

i coughed up phleghm the last month but it was more yellowish brownish which means usually its an infection so i took antibiotics whihc didnt clear it up and then advair. maybe its more of a bronchitis thing than a food allergy??

Thanks rmj when I first rang up it was we can't do it without , but I talked to a lovely lady and she sorted it all out for me, so it pays to be persistent , I would have had to decline if I hadn't been given the water option too , so yes I'm glad too 😌

I’m so glad they listened to your concerns!  I hope you get some answers from the MRI.

Had my MRI today I didn't have to have the manitol with my allergy's , I just had a litre of water , they were great with my concerns , so let's see if anything comes of if will keep posted once I have results 👍

Thank you ,it’s been a long road for me for having both now ,what upsets the most is that if they discovered that I also have cealiac earlier I would not have injested gluten if I was aware. Double whammy.
