I Feel Like A Hypochondriac!

All 3 of our kids, me and my husband are all on med's right now for different things from tennis elbow to back pain, allergies and related problems for the 3 kids, antibiotics for one of them, GERD medicine for 2 of them, constipation, and the list goes on.

We've been to the doctor almost every day for the last 3 weeks now for at least one of us. Our pediatrician just has this funny smile on his face whenever we walk in the door now. We now joke that we're moving in or we should get a paycheck since we're there so much. It could be a Seinfeld episode. It's really getting a little embarrassing.

And guess what? Four out the five of us all have what I suspect are sinus infections at this point (our daughter's already on antibiotics for hers). I keep waiting for them to go away so I don't have to go back to the dr. again, but I just don't think it's gonna happen. <_<

Anybody else out there feel like this?

I'm not really feeling this now but a few years ago I was. I was always hurting somewhere but my doctors could never find anything wrong...they started telling me it was all in my head...I nearly believed them.

I hope your fam gets feeling better soon!! Hang in there :)

I think many of us celiacs are made to feel like hypochondriacs by the docs at some point. Don't let the looks the docs give you bother you too much - you are the patient, you largely know what's wrong with you. Good luck with all the crazyness!

I can definitely feel for you. A couple weeks ago we were at my 11 year old son's flag football game and he started to complain of chest pains, and his right arm feeling like it was asleep....this was after he took a pretty good fall....my son is diabetic in addition to having Celiac's so rather than take any chances, we rushed him to the emergency room. Thank goodness everything was OK, I'll pay my 50.00 co-pay to hear those words, but then coming back from the drs. my friend whose son is also on the team said the coach had just mentioned on the field that they were going to put my son in as quarterback and I think what he actually had was an anxiety attack. My son takes his football so seriously that I think it made him nervous even though he said it didn't bother him, maybe his body didn't agree with his mind! But anyway, people are always looking at us like we are just overprotective parents....of course these are the parents who let their kids run around with green snotty noses for weeks on end and seem to never need to go to the dr. for anything.

I just doesn't ever end......seems like it's always something! Actually tho, since we've actually been diagnosed with the diabetes (1 1/2 yrs ago) and the Celiac (3 months ago), my son has not been to the dr. for any illness (knock on wood!)

I really do understand. Both kids have celiac, my daughter has a heart condition that required 2 surgeries, so far, plus she has major gi and feeding issues. My husband is a type 1 diabetic. We're both on allergy shots and I have asthma. We're a walking infimary most of the time. I spend more time on the phone with dr. offices than I do with friends or family!!!!!

Yea, we all understand!

Try inhaling salt water up your nose. I've gotten rid of sinus infections that way. It usually works if you get it right away, if it doesn't seem to clear it out, you need a doc.

some years back a new family moved in. when i met the woman she said, "oh, you're the family with all the medical problems." one year we had six surgeries and a baby----three of the surgeries were on the same day.

Hi everyone  This has been a crazy year so far... How many people actually get entire sensory overload from gluten or something similar ?  My jaw is going nuts ..and that nerve is affecting my upper back and so on ...  Bones even hurt.  Brain fog. Etc  I had eggs seemed fine.   Then my aid cooked a chicken stir fry in the microwave because my food order shorted a couple key items .   I was so hungry but I noticed light breading and some ingredients with SOY !!! Why are we suffering with soy ? This triggered a sensitivity to bananas and gluten-free yogurt it seems like it's a cycle that it goes on.  The tiniest amount of something gets me I'm guessing the tiny bit of breading that I took one tiny nibble of ...yikes ..im cringing from it .. Feels like my stomach is going to explode yet still very hungry 😔  How long does this last?! Thank you so much

I have had orthodontic work done. The 3M invisalign material was no problem. BUT my retainers are another matter. They seemed okay for a few months. Now, however, they cause a burning sensation on my tongue, gums and insides of my lips. The burning sensation is now spreading to my throat. I notice it when I breathe. This is annoying and interferes with my enjoyment of eating. I am visiting with my provider tomorrow. We'll see where this goes from here.

Exactly which blood tests were done? There are a few different ones and some docs don't do them all. Also, your results and reference ranges for each?
