Hey everyone, just wanted to post my first dining out success story of my gluten-free life.

Because I'm visiting the folks for thanksgiving, I haven't been able been able to prepare my own meals, which I've been doing for essentially every morsel of food eaten since March. So I helped my mom prepare a Gluten-free Casein-free thanksgiving on thursday, which was a smashing success (except for the burnt pamela's cookies crust on the pumpkin pie - oh well), then we went out to Legal Seafood on Friday night. For any Bostonians, it's the one near the Chestnut Hill Mall. I was extremely nervous about it because, as I said, this was my first time in a restaurant in a long long time. Anyway, without getting too into the particulars, it was an excellent experience. They had a vast gluten-free menu, were very informed about correct preparation procedures, and were able to convert any of the dishes to casein-free for me as well. Also, the manager came over, delivered the dish personally, and explained all the steps they took to prepare it safely and correctly. And the food was really good! Anyway, it was a great experience, I felt happily and safely full afterwards, and will definitely return next time I'm in town. Yippee!

Legal takes it very seriously. When I was on travel in Cambridge I ate there almost every night.

The only bad experience I had with them was at Logan Airport -- yeah, right before I got a plane. Luckily I have a 2 hour delay and that gave me time to land in DC... Anyway, I wrote them an email, they apologized profusely and with Gift certificates, hopefully they also educated the kid that waited on me.

Hee, I live in Brooklyn and go home to Boston often where I persuade my family to have gluten-free meals with me at Legals. And, yes, we go to the one at the Chestnut Hill Mall. Are we the same person?

I love Legals. They always treat me well and make me feel safe.

      Yes, some people do get withdrawal from gluten but gluten withdrawal doesn't usually cause gut pain. Maybe more like general body aches and discomfort. We have articles on gluten withdrawal on this forum. You might do a search for them. Applesauce is very acidic and some brands have added vitamin C (ascorbic acid) which makes them more acidic. This can...

      Do you or anyone know alot about ibuprofen I wasn't sure if I was eating too much apple sauce. Something is making my pain so much worse I'm referring to the intense pins and needles in my feet and lower legs. Jaw actually has tardive dystonia and muscle spasms throughout my back Almost like an opposite effect that a pain reliever...

      We were flabergasted that the owner would not acknowledge a $50 e-gift card I purchased for my celiac wife. My wife tried to open it in the store and was informed there had been a system change and they could not find the record. No worries, she was told, just talk to management. Six months later, and numerous absurd back and forths, and the owner literally informs me there have been "bad actors", so she can't make good on this lost gift card. In other words, she accused me of lying and committing fraud... over $50! Please be careful with your orders and purchases here.

We have articles on gluten withdrawal on this forum. You might do a search for them. Applesauce is very acidic and some brands have added vitamin C (ascorbic acid) which makes them more acidic. This can damage the stomach lining if you eat it too often. Especially if your stomach lining is already compromised. Ibuprofen inhibits the body's ability to rebuild the stomach's protective mucosal lining. That's why it can cause peptic ulcers. As strange as it may sound, low level irritation/inflammation stimulates the body to rebuild the stomach lining. There are two steps in this rebuilding process known as COX 1 and COX 2. Ibuprofen represses both COX 1 and COX 2. Celecoxcib, a prescription anti inflammatory, inhibits only COX 2, making it less likely to cause damage to the gut lining.

I'm fairly new to this. Whatever is going on seems to be worsening  Do people get a withdrawal effect from gluten?  It's extremely painful 😖  I'll post that question or research on the site  Thank you everyone for responding
