Benylin Cough Syrup And Halls Cough Drops

The only cough syrup that helps me is Benylin but now that I am gluten free I don't know if it's allowed. I read the label and checked some websites but couldn't find anything difinitive.

Also, if Halls cough drops are not gluten free, do you know of any that are? It's that time of year again and my throat is killing me, my head aches, and I feel a cold/flu coming on.

Thanks,

Marlene

Sorry can't help you with the meds but the Halls cough drops, the way I understand it is that only the sugar free are Gluten free. I buy the sugar free black cherry and have no problem. Good luck!

Try doing a google search using the name of the drug and the words 'and gluten' I got a number of hits but did not have time to go into them. It appeared it is but I would do the search and look for the detailed info to be sure.

Food colors are safe. There is bad information circulating out there which leads to false fears. You simply do not need to be concerned about colors (or colours).

I believe all Hall cough drops are now safe. It used to be only the sugar free, but I think they tested them all. I would call to double check on it though, but i believe i read it on this forum. Try to do a search for it.

Thank you for the advice. I’ve actually never checked for nutritional deficiencies, but for as long as I can remember, I’ve always taken vitamin and mineral supplements — otherwise my symptoms get worse. This week I stopped eating gluten to confirm whether my symptoms are really caused by it. Starting next week, I’ll reintroduce gluten — it’s sad to go back to how I was before — but at least I’ll be able to take the necessary tests properly. I think the diagnostic process will be long, but at least I’m happy that I finally decided to address this doubt I’ve had for years.

Hey Julie! I was in a similar situation before my biopsy and my gastro said Tylenol was fine. Just avoid ibuprofen or anything anti-inflammatory until you're cleared. Hope your surgery goes smoothly!

I don't see how cornstarch could alter the test results. Where did you read that?

For pain relief I take a combination of Thiamine (Benfotiamine), Pyridoxine B 6, and Cobalamine B12.  The combination of these three vitamins has analgesic effects.  I have back pain and this really works.  The B vitamins are water soluble and easily excreted.   Hope this helps!  Keep us posted on your results!
