These appear to be ok but maybe I am missing somthing or maybe somthing else in them is making us sick. Both my daughter and I have experienced tummy aches and cramps when eating these on a few occasions over the past couple of months. They are a kraft product so I thought it would be obviously stated in the ingrediants list if they contained gluten. But now I am not so sure. Does anyone know if the are or are not gluten-free? If they are not does anyone know of a mainstream tasty brand that are ok to eat.....my daughter eats quite a few hotdogs.

Hi :)

You're right, in that Kraft will disclose any gluten in the ingredient list. That said, a couple of things come to mind.

There could be a spice, or something else that they're using that you are reacting to. A lot of people can eat Oscar Mayer with no ill effects (I am one) but that dosen't mean that everyone can. Have you had a problem with Kraft products or Oscar Mayer before?

Sometimes we can react to seemingly "safe" products. For example, Hormel bacon and hams are gluten-free. For some reason, I get an upset stomach and gas when I eat them. I don't really know why, I just know that this happens whenever I've tried them. So, I stick to Oscar Mayer.

It can take some time and a little (or a lot) of experimenting until we find the best products for our individual needs. :)

Some meats give me gas and cramps just plain. Not gluten related.

As for hotdogs: Hebrew National is THE BEST. They are all beef and don't have a lot of chemicals and many people on this forum who are very sensitive to "whatever" have said they do fine with Hebrew National.

I would try them! They taste great too.

I eat the Oscar Mayer All Beef franks with no problems.

BTW, we've done other articles on this topic that I wanted to share here (not to condone smoking!):

Hi everyone  This has been a crazy year so far... How many people actually get entire sensory overload from gluten or something similar ?  My jaw is going nuts ..and that nerve is affecting my upper back and so on ...  Bones even hurt.  Brain fog. Etc  I had eggs seemed fine.   Then my aid cooked a chicken stir fry in the microwave because my food order shorted a couple key items .   I was so hungry but I noticed light breading and some ingredients with SOY !!! Why are we suffering with soy ? This triggered a sensitivity to bananas and gluten-free yogurt it seems like it's a cycle that it goes on.  The tiniest amount of something gets me I'm guessing the tiny bit of breading that I took one tiny nibble of ...yikes ..im cringing from it .. Feels like my stomach is going to explode yet still very hungry 😔  How long does this last?! Thank you so much

This is an older article, but may be helpful.

I have had orthodontic work done. The 3M invisalign material was no problem. BUT my retainers are another matter. They seemed okay for a few months. Now, however, they cause a burning sensation on my tongue, gums and insides of my lips. The burning sensation is now spreading to my throat. I notice it when I breathe. This is annoying and interferes with my enjoyment of eating. I am visiting with my provider tomorrow. We'll see where this goes from here.

Exactly which blood tests were done? There are a few different ones and some docs don't do them all. Also, your results and reference ranges for each?
