Since celiac3270's "firmly gluten-free" thread is getting longgggggg I wanted to bump it to a new page and give everyone a chance to leave our favorite celiac a good thought for a better diagnosis and "going forwad" days after the 'scope coming up. (I knew he would not presume to do this himself :) Knowledge is power, let's hope you get some on the 13th...

I forgot it was coming up so soon. Good luck! (I admit to being confused at first, because I'm used to 'endo' being used to mean endometriosis, a gyn condition, and ... well, was just very confused. ;-) )

celiac3270,

You are in my prayers. Monday just can't come soon enough! Looking forward to hearing what comes from your endoscopy. I know that you need answers and I hope that you get them. But most of all I hope that you are able to feel better soon. You are a great inspiration to so many of us here and I'm sure we all agree that it will be great for you to be pain free and symptom free. Look at all that you have accomplished while suffering. Imagine what you will be able to do when you are completely healthy! :D

Let us know how it goes. You too Stacie! Good luck to you on the 14th!

God bless,

Mariann

Good luck with the Endoscopy celiac3270!

Thanks again, everyone :) .....I am even more happy that I'm going to get this done Monday, now. Like Mariann said, "Monday just can't come soon enough". In the past I got abdominal pains and vomiting...once every 3-7 days......now, for the past seven days, I have had abdominal pains -- not much vomiting -- a little last night, but I'm not used to seven days in a row feeling sick....since it's getting worse, I'm really glad that I'll get this checked out. This is a big year for me--there's a mandatory shakespeare play thing, which requires a lot of time and is a really big and stressful process..........even more, I have to apply for highschool (tedious forms to fill out, many essays to write, SSATs, other exams that different schools want, and most importantly, interviews and tours that I can't be sick for :( .......etc.).........so I really want to get this straightened out....at least if I find out what's wrong with me, I can maybe get some sort of medication to ease the symptoms or something..........but thank you all sincerely for your thoughts and well-wishes for not only the endoscopy, but answers and elimination of symptoms :D . School starts tomorrow for me and will drastically slow down my postings, but I will make sure I tell you what happens with the scope and results...

Know we are with you in spirit. I will keep your health and education in my prayers. Try not to stress, easier said than done, about school issues - I wonder if the stress is flaring things up. I hope you get some answers.

The first day of school was great -- and the second, today...........I'm getting back in my study-nerd-workaholic mode without any trouble..lol :D ...anyway, in my school of about 320, there were three celiacs. One kid who is three years younger than I am (gluten-free over a year), a kid who was in the eighth grade last year and is now at some secondary school, and then, obviously, there's myself. The teacher that that celiac had last year is now my teacher, so he slightly understands the limitations of celiac disease.........

Oh, the reason I posted. I found out that the biopsy is at 11:30. I need to be at the hospital by 9:30 and no food after midnight before the endo....then clear liquids including water and apple juice are allowed until 7:30. So, that's the time slot now. I got assignments from my teachers for Monday cause I don't want to have to make up a lot of work or call people and do work after the endo. I want to get all my stuff done this weekend so that Monday I can just lie around and relax and post..... :D when I finish. I'll post when I get home. Thanks again for your support.

"study-nerd-workaholic mode"

I noticed.

Hahahaha.

I wish I knew if there were other Celiacs on my campus.

Wow, celiac3270, that's great that they know what you're dealing with! (Well, I hope - we've heard stories of celiacs who... aren't well enough informed for their own good on this board. ;-) )

Hi celiac3270!

It's good to read about you getting back into "the swing of things". I have a feeling that you thrive on learning!!!

Thinking of you and wishing you luck on Monday......

Have you tried Pure Encapsulations supplements? This is a brand my doctor recommends for me. I have no issues with this brand.

plant sources of calcium, such as spinach, have calcium bound to oxalates, which is not good. best source of calcium is unfortunately dairy, do you tolerate dairy? fermented dairy like kefir is good and or a little hard cheese. i do eat dairy, i can only take so much dietary restriction and gluten is hard enough! but i guess some people do have bad reactions to it, so different for everyone.

i take b12, folate, b2, b6, glycine, Nac, zinc, vk2 mk4, magnesium, coq10, pqq, tmg, creatine, omega 3, molybdnem (sp) and just started vit d. quite a list i know.  I have high homocysteine (last checked it was 19, but is always high and i finally decided to do something about it) and very low vitamin d, 10. have been opposed to this supp in the past, but going to try it at 5k units a day. having a pth test on friday, which is suspect will be high. my homocysteine has come down to around 9 with 3 weeks of these supplements and expect it to go down further. i also started on estrogen/progesterone. I have osteoporosis too, so that is why the hormones.  anyway, i think all celiacs should have homocysteine checked and treated if needed (easy enough with b vit, tmg). homocysteine very bad thing to be high for a whole host of reasons. all the bad ones, heart attack , stroke, alzi, cancer..... one of the most annoying things about celiacs (and there are so many!) is the weight gain. i guess i stayed thin all those years being undiagnosed because i was under absorbing everything including calories. going gluten-free and the weight gain has been terrible, 30#, but i'm sure a lot more went into that (hip replacement - and years of hip pain leading to inactivity when i was previously very active, probably all related to celiacs, menopause) yada yada. i seemed to lose appetite control, like there was low glp, or leptin or whatever all those hormones are that tell you that you are full and to stop eating. my appetite is immense and i'm never full. i guess decades or more ( i think i have had celiacs since at least my teens - was hospitalized for abdominal pain and diarrhea for which spastic colon was eventually diagnosed and had many episodes of diarrhea/abdominal pain through my 20's. but that symptom seemed to go away and i related it to dairy much more so than gluten. Also my growth was stunted, i'm the only shorty in my family. anyway, decades of malabsorption and maldigestion led to constant hunger, at least thats my theory. then when i started absorbing normally, wham!! FAT!!!

Great advise there I agree with the aniexty part, and the aura migraine has I suffer both, I've also read some great books that have helped I'm going too look the one you mentioned up too thankyou for that, I find a camomile tea just a small one and a gentle wind down before bed has helped me too, I suffer from restless leg syndrome and nerve pain hence I don't always sleep well at the best of times , racing mind catches up I have decorated my whole house in one night in my mind before 🤣 diet changes mindset really help , although I have to say it never just disappears, I find once I came to terms with who I am I managed a lot better  , a misconception is for many to change , that means to heal but that's not always the case , understanding and finding your coping mechanisms are vital tools , it's more productive to find that because there is no failure then no pressure to become something else , it's ok to be sad it's ok to not sleep , it's ok to worry , just try to see it has a journey not a task 🤗
