Am I Missing Something?

about 5 minutes ago I posted a post under the 'coping with' section. I see, on the main forum page, my post under the whole 'most recent post' thing. But when I click into the Coping With section, my post/thread is no where to be seen. Is it just going to take a while to show up? Or...what's going on? If it appears later, I'll just um...edit this one and maybe it can get deleted or something. But yeah. And I suppose I'll see if this one even works!

Well, since it is the middle of the night, and only night owls like me are still around, it will definitely take longer than five minutes to be pinned. I'll go and check it out, and pin it for you.

lol yeah...thanks. I've posted on this board only 2 times or so, so...I wasn't quite sure of the procedure. Nor the pinning thing, until I saw it explained in this section a few threads down (duh.) So, apparently, I WAS missing something. ;)

Thanks for the info and pinning though!!

Hey Fran

Welcome to the board. I have been here for a little while and I still do not understand the lingo. Personally I wish people would just spell it out. It does make it confusing. But just hang in there It does get easier and you will learn a whole lot. Goodluck

Oats naturally contain a protein called avenin, which is similar to the gluten proteins found in wheat, barley, and rye. While avenin is generally considered safe for most people with celiac disease, some individuals, around 5-10% of celiacs, may also have sensitivity to avenin, leading to symptoms similar to gluten exposure. You may fall into this category, and eliminating them is the best way to figure this out. Some people substitute gluten-free quinoa flakes for oats if they want a hot cereal substitute. If you are interested in summaries of scientific publications on the topic of oats and celiac disease, we have an entire category dedicated to it which is here: https://www.celiac.com/celiac-disease/oats-and-celiac-disease-are-they-gluten-free/
