Bubble Tea

I was reading up on tapioca since I've been using it alot in my new bread recipe. Apparently in Taiwan, a drink called bubble tea is all the rage. I think you can order it in your bigger cities here in the states and I was wondering if anyone has tried it. It does look good! Kinda funny I want to make it now. It has the little tapioca balls that sink to the bottom of the cup (served in a clear plastic cup). Like I need another reason to eat more tapioca.

It's huge in LA. There are Boba restuarants all over the San Gabriel valley, all the cousins on my wife's side are really into it. They go to Boba like my friend and I would go for coffee.

I've tried it, and it was OK, but I never really got into it. I'd rather have a Mocha.

Of course, if you make it yourself it won't come in a little foil covered cup.

Thanks for the links Geoff. I have never heard of this drink until today. Can't wait to try it......I'm cooking the tapioca pearls right now.

There are a lot of places that sell it in Vancouver, BC...and it seems to be quite popular. It comes in all sorts of flavours too. I've tried it, and am not a big fan...though I do really like tapioca pudding...just not crazy about big pieces of tapioca.

i used to go to university in a smaller town, and there were tonnes of cafes (Bubble Tea cafes) and they also sold it on campus. We were a very Asian oriented city (sorry if that is politically incorrect), which was a reason why. It is SO good.
