It's a personal opinion to have one. The blood tests are really enough!!! I had positive blood tests and reguardless of what my biopsy says (May 15) I'm still going gluten free. If you do have one...insist that they take multiple samples b/c celiac can effect villi in one area and not another.

You can get a tax write off with this disease. But you have to spend a significant amount of money. On my income(I'm a single mom, one income family, I rent) I would have to spend $7,500. And it's the diffrence between the reg food and gluten free. So say reg bread is 2 a loaf and celiac is 5....you could deduct 3. But you'd have to meet teh minimum befor eyou could deduct anything. It helps if you own your own home and itemize. Sorry my mom's an account and we've discussed this!LOL I don't make enough or qualify for this deduction!

If you were diagnosed by a biopsy with celiac as a child, you are celiac. The old diagnosis would still be valid, since celiac is a life long disease that doesn't go away.

There might be something to be said for doing a biopsy now to see how much damage there is maybe.

I'm very sorry that you have been sick. It's too bad no one knew to tell you that you should have been gluten free all this time. I hope you'll recover quickly, but don't get too worried if it takes a while. If you have been eating gluten for many years, it will take some time for your body to recover from that.

Strictly speaking you NEED food, shelter, and clothing. Beyond that everything a choice (with consequences of course!) . :)

But no, you do not need another biopsy. You already have a DX of celiac disease so there is nothing to be gained UNLESS they are looking for something else also.

If you were already positive for Celiac via biopsy, you have the gold standard of diagnosis. You are and have been a Celiac.

It is true that in the UK you need biopsy proof to be eligable for prescription gluten-free foods BUT surely your old notes would show you had a positive biopsy as a kid?? Once a coeliac - always a coeliac. :)

You should be able to access those records even after moving. Have you contacted your old doctors? If you are unable to for some reason, in the US we have a legal right to copies of all records but don't know if it is the same in UK, make sure you have your new GP contact and get the records. They should be able to get them if you can't.

This treatment looks promising. Its aim is to provoke immune tolerance of gluten, possibly curing the disease. It passed the phase 2 trial with flying colours, and I came across a post on Reddit by one of the study volunteers. Apparently, the results were good enough that the company is applying for fast track approval.  Anokion Announces Positive Symptom Data from its Phase 2 Trial Evaluating KAN-101 for the Treatment of Celiac Disease https://www.reddit.com/r/Celiac/comments/1krx2wh/kan_101_trial_put_on_hold/

Hi everyone  This has been a crazy year so far... How many people actually get entire sensory overload from gluten or something similar ?  My jaw is going nuts ..and that nerve is affecting my upper back and so on ...  Bones even hurt.  Brain fog. Etc  I had eggs seemed fine.   Then my aid cooked a chicken stir fry in the microwave because my food order shorted a couple key items .   I was so hungry but I noticed light breading and some ingredients with SOY !!! Why are we suffering with soy ? This triggered a sensitivity to bananas and gluten-free yogurt it seems like it's a cycle that it goes on.  The tiniest amount of something gets me I'm guessing the tiny bit of breading that I took one tiny nibble of ...yikes ..im cringing from it .. Feels like my stomach is going to explode yet still very hungry 😔  How long does this last?! Thank you so much

I have had orthodontic work done. The 3M invisalign material was no problem. BUT my retainers are another matter. They seemed okay for a few months. Now, however, they cause a burning sensation on my tongue, gums and insides of my lips. The burning sensation is now spreading to my throat. I notice it when I breathe. This is annoying and interferes with my enjoyment of eating. I am visiting with my provider tomorrow. We'll see where this goes from here.
