I love my plants dealry but can't figure out what they need or want. There are very green and look great, however some of there leaves have yellow tips or are turning yellow. What does this mean? Is it from being over waterd, lack of water or do they need fertlizer? I would love any suggestions. My poor plants need it. ;) Thanks!

are they getting to much sun? if they are wilting this can be from overwatering, or under, your soil should be damp but not mucky. are they indoor or outdoor plants. more details would be great.

my plant at home that is having the problem is a lily plant. Its not in direct sun, but has access to light. I water them once a week, not excessivley though. The liliy actually has bloomed, its just the tips of the leaves turn yellow. I have an office plant that is doing the same. It doesn't flower, but it doesn't like the direct light either. Its called a Ficus Bonsai. Not sure what to do.

I would encourage you to take pictures or the plant to a local nursery for expert visual-based advice. Discoloring in the tips suggests salt to me (it first manifests in the leaf tips) but it's usually more of a 'burn' than yellowing.

Depending on how yellow the tips are, it can be within the norm for a lilly. If it is a true lilly, such as a casablanca, stargazer or asiatic, they tend to do that, for whatever reason. If it is a "tiger" lilly (the really small ones) then there is a problem.

The person on this board that knows THE MOST about plants is Shirley! She can tell you about almost any plant there is. Jen and I depended upon her advice for the entire growing season two years ago!!

I'll try to remember her board name -- will contact a few people to find out, and you can PM her. She is AMAZING!!

Hi,

Depending on the type of Lily, it will most likely go into dormancy for the winter. If it's a Stargazer bulb, for instance, it will most likely begin to yellow and then will look like it's dying. Don't cut it ! Let the leaves die off. This is important for photosynthesis and a nice plant next year. This is a good time for fertilizer. Then, let the stem(s) die off without assistance by you. In October or so, provided that it totally dies off, you may be able to tug the stem out. It kind of depends on your climate how you choose to deal with the bulb or not come winter. Regardless, it should pop up again in the Spring.

Ours are only beginning to open the flowers now (specifically Stargazers)

I saw the thing for testing for gluten when at public places.I absolutely love but I wonder if they would come up with a bracelet or necklace that can detect gluten in the air.I would LOVE that, i know i get debilitating migraine from smelling gluten wheat what have you, all I know is when I go into places like Chevron- gluten Subway, migraine, Costco that food smell of nasty gluten- migraine and same with Walmart subway.I absolutely HATE im that sensitive, my body reacts.Sadly medical hasn't taken core issue of celiac being an issue considering glutenfree ever since 1994 and in their eyes not because they didn't diagnose me. I am and wish I wasn't. If there was a detector of gluten in the air it would make a world of difference.

Oops! @Staticgypsy, I’ll get the book! Thank you!

Thank you so much for your help, @trents and @Staticgypsy! I so appreciate your thoughts. My diet is high in foods with oxalates and I don’t notice any issues there. If eliminating gluten from my diet had changed anything I’d be happy to just keep on the gluten-free diet, but with eating gluten several times with no rash, and having a rash when I was many years into gluten-free eating (and was much more careful at that point), I’m just baffled. Many, many thanks to you both.

Sorry, @JudyLou, as reread your post, I see that you have had gene testing done already.
