Did He Get Glutened At Wendy's?

Ok so I didn't check but we were out and about today and we went to Wendy's. My son ate some plain chicken and a few fries with ketsup. Now all afternoon he's complaining of a tummy ache. Do you think he got glutened or that dairy might have been there? I had the same exact thing (we shared) and I feel fine(However, I'm not sure if I react to gluten but I know I react to dairy/soy). While we were out we also had a Jamba juice peach one that is all fruit.

the only other food he had was a gluten-free waffle (from a vegan/gluten-free bakery) with syrup(Country Kitchen-Log Cabin) and some glutino pretzels.

* He did have a bowel this evening and told daddy my tummy's not hurting*(but he is just potty training and only 3)

So what do you think?

Eating out is always risky. It could be that the fries were fried in a non dedicated fryer? Was chicken marinated or cut on a board used for gluten? Or possible cc at any place along the way. Or just a normal kid tummy ache that went away after a bm. I am sorry he was feeling bad.

Chicken and fries are not on my list of safe products, but the above is confirmation.

Best thing is to call or e-mail the company and confirm for yourself and your familiy.

Oh no, now i feel really bad if I glutened him. He was still complaining of tummy ache all the way up until he fell asleep. Gosh I though for sure the fries were safe (well I hadn't even been to this location but another one guarenteed all of them are dedicated fryers). Guess I'll be calling them tomorrow to find out for sure.

ETA: I looked on the site and the chicken (Ultamate Chicken grill- just the meat) does not have wheat or dairy. ANd for the fries it does have a check by them meaning it could be cc due to the fryer. So that's probably what did it was the fries...or possibly cc from the person preparing it?(Unfortunatley I won't know if it was cc from being prepared). Next time, if there is a next time I will ask them to put on new gloves and watch how they handle/prepare the meat. The lady did put it in a different container (like a salad one with a lid).

Hi, Wendy's doesn't show the fires as being gluten free because they want you to question the particular Wendy's that you go to to make sure they use a dedicated frier. I am assuming that it is not a Wendy's policy to use a dedicated frier but when you call and ask about the fries, thats what they tell you to do. So far I have not found a Wendy's that does not use a dedicated frier. We have never had a problem so far. Don't forget that sometimes kids get a stomach ache for other reasons like eating greasy fries. I also know kids that get diarrhea after eating a lot of fruit so while it may have been gluten related, it could have been just a "normal" stomach ache.

So basically for the past few weeks I've been glutening my own child and not knowing it. No wonder why he keeps getting tummy aches. So after him complaining of tummy ache after Wendy's had me investigate further into fast food trips we've had lately on weekends.

I still think he may have gotten glutened from Wendy's due to the handling of the chicken.

But I just found out the french fries from jack n the box and carl's Jr have possible cross contaimination. I was told the fries were in a dedicated fryer. Well I called today and at carl's they cook french toast in that oil in the morning and then the fries in the afternoon. And at Jack they also cook the seasoned fries in the same oil. Lately we have been eatting at one of these places 1x on the weekend. My poor son has probably been glutened and casiened for the past few weeks.

I feel so bad, but it explains the occassional D and tummy aches I am getting too.

So the only safe fast food(well has safe items) near my house is Jimboys (mexican) or Wendy's. I still haven't tried In and Out or Chick fil a, but they are far from my house to just grab and bring home to eat.

Does Jimboys have a gluten-free menu?

Hi everyone  This has been a crazy year so far... How many people actually get entire sensory overload from gluten or something similar ?  My jaw is going nuts ..and that nerve is affecting my upper back and so on ...  Bones even hurt.  Brain fog. Etc  I had eggs seemed fine.   Then my aid cooked a chicken stir fry in the microwave because my food order shorted a couple key items .   I was so hungry but I noticed light breading and some ingredients with SOY !!! Why are we suffering with soy ? This triggered a sensitivity to bananas and gluten-free yogurt it seems like it's a cycle that it goes on.  The tiniest amount of something gets me I'm guessing the tiny bit of breading that I took one tiny nibble of ...yikes ..im cringing from it .. Feels like my stomach is going to explode yet still very hungry 😔  How long does this last?! Thank you so much

I have had orthodontic work done. The 3M invisalign material was no problem. BUT my retainers are another matter. They seemed okay for a few months. Now, however, they cause a burning sensation on my tongue, gums and insides of my lips. The burning sensation is now spreading to my throat. I notice it when I breathe. This is annoying and interferes with my enjoyment of eating. I am visiting with my provider tomorrow. We'll see where this goes from here.

Exactly which blood tests were done? There are a few different ones and some docs don't do them all. Also, your results and reference ranges for each?
