So I've been giving Isabella the Dannon Danimal smoothies. I didnt see anything on the label to lead me to believe it would be bad. But now I read that they consider their product that arent the plain flovors or something like that to be NOT gluten safe. But it seems so minimal that it could cause an issue.

Isabella hasn't shown any "signs" of being "glutened" since being on the diet even though I know there have been slight accidents from people who are unaware...its new we hadn't had the chance to education everyone fully yet. But she hasn't had any reactions. How am I going to be able to tell if my daughter who is only a year and a half and can't speak to tell me anything?

I've been pretty okay dealing with all of this....its only been since the end of March so I'm still learning and still getting very frustrated and still crying at the grocery store cause I dont know what all the indgredents mean. Seriously who the heck comes up with some of the ingredents names?

Are fruit snacks okay? Where is the smiley ripping their hair out?!?!

 Couldn't find the smiley you wanted, will this do?

I do not trust Dannon. They say there may be gluten in their products and to me, that means they aren't careful enough. My sister called them once and they told her they do worry about gluten. She has not purchased them since. Some of there products even tell you there is gluten.

Yesterday, I was looking at a yogurt in the specialty section for special diets and it actually said it contains wheat, barley, rye, and corn. Why all that in a yogurt?

Last I heard, all the Yoplait yogurts, as long as they don't have any cereal or grains in them, are gluten free. And they won't hide wheat, rye, or barley under "natural flavors." This includes the Go-Gurts. We get those and freeze them. Then our son can have "ice cream on a stick."

Oh I can do the Go-gurts! I guess Mia can finish off the smoothies and Bella will get Go-Gurts...why do things have to be "hidden" it SUCKS! <_<

I guess I understand it if they are outsourcing the fruit product or other flavorings.... Maybe it's more responsible for them to say they can't guarantee another company's product? I eat dannon plain a lot, and I've never had problems. I sweeten it with honey or jam, or blend it with frozen banana...

Quick update.  I saw the title of this thread and forgot that I'd actually started it!  Oh dear! It seems my new healthy diet was the cause of these symptoms,  I had a clear colonoscopy, thankfully. Now I know what it is I shall try to resume the healthy diet - the symptoms are annoying rather than painful, and I think it was doing me a lot of good, I certainly lost some pounds around the waistline (pity they piled back on again at Christmas!)

Physiological Associations between Vitamin B Deficiency and Diabetic Kidney Disease https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC10135933/ "There are recent advances in our basic understanding of the effects of thiamine deficiency on DKD and vice-versa. Thiamine, TPP, and TMP transporters may have an abnormal expression in diabetes [28,29,30]." I explained this in Monday's post.

Stegosaurus, One size doesn't fit all. Most celiacs do fine with oats and other non-gluten cereal grains. Grains can contribute important nutrients to the diet and are a relatively inexpensive food energy sources. I don't agree with the position that all celiacs should eliminate all grains from their diet. This line of thinking has been promoted for years by books like Dangerous Grains which make the case on logic rather than actual real world data. Like many biological phenomenon, what would seem to be logical doesn't pan out to be true in the real world.  But if you are one of those in the minority of celiacs who cannot tolerate cereal grains at all, I'm glad that you were able to sort that out.

While it's true that lifting heavy weights is a good bone builder, it may not be advisable for those with certain medical conditions like heart disease, arthritis and for the elderly or for those who don't have access to the equipment.  Bone building drugs like Fosamax slow down the disposal of worn out osteoclasts (bone cells) and so help maintain/restore bone density as seen in scans but because the retained cells are no longer healthy, the process may contribute less to actual bone strength than healthy cells would.
