Whole Foods 365 Sesame Rice Crackers?

just wondering if anyone has tried the whole foods 365 brand rice crackers? I have some sesame ones that I am dying to try.

The label clearly states "Good manufacturing processes used to seperate ingredients ion a FACILITY where wheat is processed". I have trouble with shared equipment but not necessarily shared facilities.

Hi Bev :D

I don't have good luck at all with the 365 brand. Maybe it's just me. I've not tried the crackers, but their almond butter, digestive enzyme and tomato sauce all made me sick.

The almond butter was sent out for testing to the U of Nebraska, and showed gluten-free only to 200 PPM. Maybe things have changed.

Let me know if you try them :)

Are you feeling any better?

i am feeling better! :D

So of course, in my usual style  I ate some last night and NO reaction to report! of course, there's the three day waiting period.

Good! I'm glad you were ok with them--and it continues :)

Excuse me!?!? :o:huh::ph34r::angry:

Why would almond butter have gluten contamination?!?!

I was going to look into trying there brand since Maranatha organic is so expensive. Does WF have organic nut butters?

I know- that is NUTS but isn't that the Codex standard? i remember reacting VERY badly to an Amy's product and the U of N only found 33 ppm :o

I'm pretty sure they DO have organic nut butters at WF.

Andrea--

I know it sounds crazy. I had reacted to their products before, but didn't complain. With the almond butter, I emailed them and asked about it and mentioned that I was sure it had made me react.

They got back to me, sent me the packaging and postage label, and had me sent it out there for testing. The woman that I spoke to called me back--I can't remember how long after--and told me the results.

I had a thread on this back when it happened--at that time, several people said they also had problems with that brand. Like I said, maybe this has changed by now.

You have a waiting period? I do too. after I was tested and did the preprep stuff I figured it out about what I ate usually appered anywhere between 1 -3 days after sometimes sooner depending what is was. Usually never immeiatly, maybe the stomach noises but would take me a long time for a reaction down under

yeah- usually I have night sweats THAT night but when I went in for GI testing back in June it took the stupid 5 cups of barium and some other yucky stuff like 3 1/2 hours to move through my small intestine and they had to use a paddle to get it moving so I know I've got one SLOW digestive system.

I pretty much live on the 365 crackers. I like the sesame ones and the seaweed ones. I eat them _all_ the time, and have not had issues.

Trader Joe's Almond butter did not cause problems. Is that one ok??

Now just an almond-pickin' minute!!:lol:

I do GREAT w/ that almond butter. :)

Not to get too ContrarianSpice on ya, but are u sure the 200ppm # doesn't just come from the precision of the test?

I'm pretty sure that a retail price for a 200ppm test is ~$10-20. (Bought some years ago)

I'd venture a guess that a 20ppm test is well over 10x the cost of a 200ppm test.

These things most often go up closer to exponentially.

Was there some indication that the test they used *did* indicate gluten, or was the response more "hey if there IS any, it's under 200ppm"?

Considering how much I rely on this brand of almond butter for trips, I'm very very (can I get a vee-ee-are-why?) interested.

(Usually a jar or two in the suitcase, and some in brown-rice tort wraps in carry-on)

jerseyangel Proficient

Yea--it was pretty much that if it had gluten, it was under 200PPM. CC, possibly?

I'm extremely sensitive, and this is far from the only product that gave me a reaction. I was actually surprised that they offered to test it.

I'm sure lots of people eat it with no problems :)

Mtndog Collaborator

U of N can test down to 20 ppm. When Amy's sent a sample out to be tested for me (cuz I'm SO special :P ) they told me it couldn't detect anything lower than that so i'm pretty sure that patti's EVIL almond butter had 200 ppm in it.

I'm glad someone doesn't react to it!

I DEFINITELY reacted to the crackers- I feel absolutely HIDEOUS today. It's been awhile since I've gotten glutened and I forgot how "lovely" it feels. Not!

May also explain why yesterday I tried to launder my soda cans and recycle my socks

After waisted time of new care team, yet again EXHAUSTED saw new gi today in Modesto, though all my ailments im not getting any kind of concern of me being celiac and sentive to just about everything since menopause. Dr daid why don't I go see you guys because my blood shows zero for celiac. I told him im glutenfree since 1994 by colonoscopy with biopsy positive celiac sprue by GI.Its RIDICULOUS when im bringing in material from this site of knowledge as well as the autoimmune institute, and  there's zero interest on their part.Medical IS causing me depression.Im view as a disability chaser, IM STILL RECOVERING from being a bus driver that im still healing and having more issues, now I may have multiple sclerosis or meningioma. Ive reached out, wrote letters, NOT feeling well. This is inhumane.

I was taking medicine for sibo but it was not agreeing with my stomach at all.Was on gabapentin but it amps me up.I was taking in morning because it wasn't allowing me to sleep. This has always been an issue with medicine and me.Even going to dentist, the good shot that numbs you once, I can't take because it makes my heart beat fast and I  get the shakes.I have to take the crappy stuff and get injected always more than 4 times always. Its infuriating

I showed one doctor I went to once because completely clueless of celiac disease and yes that one was connected to a well known hospital and she said oh thats just a bunch of people that think they are celiac coming together. I said um no they have doctors and knowledge behind what is being written. So bay area is Downplaying this site! SADLY

If you successfully digest gluten with enzyme supplements so it won’t give you side effects, your challenge won’t be worthwhile because the digested fragments of gluten also won’t stimulate antibody production or cause intestinal damage.
