I am not sure what is going on with my body. I am kind of embarrassed but not sure what to do except to go see my obgyn, but thought I would see what all of you thought first.

Here is what is going on. I got off of my birth control in February 2007, and of course I had regualar cycles to the exact day, which was really nice. I decided to get off the pill because we want to have a baby. Our theory is it will happen when its meant to. So I have been tracking my cycles and they seem to be between 29 and 35 days.

This month I am 4 days late, but last night I noticed some spotting. Nothing that even requires me to wear anything. It's only there when I wipe, and it's kind of brown. I have taken pregnancy test and they are negative. So what gives? If it's my period, then why is my body so out of wack and not consistant? If I am pregnant, which nothing idicates that I am as of right now, why the spotting? I really looking forward to having a baby one day, but having my cycles out of whak gets really frustrating, not only for concieving purposes, but I don't want to get my hopes up when I miss my cycle...to find out it was just REALLY late. Ahh...sorry for the blabbering, now you can see why I am frustrated. Thanks for listening.

Many women get frustrated when they get off the pill because it can take months, many months, for the hormones to regulate. This is all normal. Not to scare you, and this is a severe case, but I even heard of a woman who took two years to become regular after only being on the pill for a few months.

Some women get off and right away are having regular periods, but others take quite some time.

The best thing you can do is try to eat healthy, get lots of rest ... basically, give your body all it needs to "heal" ... it's had artificial hormones in it for a while now, and it will take it some time to work properly on its own.

I saw this over and over when I taught natural family planning ... it's common. Just give it time. I know it's frustrating, but you are normal. :)

If you present it to your doctor as a huge problem, he will most likely throw meds at you to fix it. I'd give your body a chance.

I have never been regular my entire life so when it was time to concieve it was very frustrating. My cycles were just all over the place. I finally started using an ovulation prediction kit and discovered after a few months that I wasn't even ovulating. Eventually we decided to try Clomid and one cycle did the trick. I know it isn't for everyone but if you give your body awhile to regulate and it just isn't happening then there are options. I wouldn't shy away from your OB either, if it is someone you like and trust. For now it does sound like it is related to the pill but it never hurts to make sure there isn't something else going on as well.

Mine was always brown. I have a history of endometriosis and my periods were probably the same as yours. I had a period my 1st pregnancy. The doc told me my due date and I told them but I had my period at this time so shouldn't I be due the following month. They told me some people have periods... Madeline was born 3 days before due date at 8lbs. 6 oz's and she'll be 9 y/o on Sun.!

Also, my 1st happened quickly which shocked the poop out of me! I quite the pill 3 months (after being on for ~11 years) before we married and he was in CA and I was in NY, so no hanky panky went on before. 8 weeks into our marriage I was like "I can't stand my new husband and I don't really care for you either...This tastes disgusting!..."

Also urine pregnancy tests are not very acurate when it is very early in pregnancy. Ask your doc for a blood test. I new for all 3 at 4-5 weeks gestation. Blood was + and urine's were inconclusive or -.

Good luck,

Jacqui

If you are Catholic or believe in the Saints St. Gerard is the Patron Saint of Mothers. I have had a couple friends pray to him after I gave them his prayer card. They became pregnant shortly after and this after they had several miscarriages!

I don't want to get your hopes up but you could be experiencing implantation bleeing. i'm not sure "when" implantation bleeing occurs in the cycle if you do get pregnant but i know that it sounds similar to what you are experiencing. i would call your doctors office and speak to a nurse. they might have you come in for a blood test.

Good luck!!!!

True, I forgot about implant bleeding. I had PAINFUL implantation, so the ER doc thought it was endo again but nope it was baby #2.

I am on day 13 of eating gluten  and have decided to have the celiac panel done tomorrow instead of Wed. (and instead of extending it a few more weeks) because I am SO incredibly sick. I have almost no appetite and am not able to consume the required daily intake of calcium to try to keep up with the loss of calcium from the high parathyroid hormone and/or the renal calcium leak.    I have spent the past 15 years working hard to improve my health. I lost 50lbs, got off handfuls of medications, lowered my cholesterol to enviable levels, and in spite of having end stage osteoarthritis in both knees, with a good diet and keeping active I have NO pain in those joints- til now.  Almost all of my joints hurt now I feel like someone has repeatedly punched me all over my torso- even my ribs hurt- I have nausea, gas, bloating, headache, mood swings, irritability, horrid flatulence (afraid to leave the house or be in any enclosed spaces with other people- the smell would knock them off their feet) I was so sure that I wanted a firm diagnosis but now- I'm asking myself is THIS worth it? esp over the past 2 yrs I have been feeling better and better the more I adjusted my diet to exclude highly refined grains and processed foods. I didn't purposely avoid gluten, but it just happened that not eating gluten has made me feel better.   I don't know what I would have to gain by getting a definitive diagnosis. I think possibly the only advantage to a DX would be that I could insist on gluten-free foods in settings where I am unable to have access to foods of my choice (hospital, rehab, nursing home)  and maybe having a medical reason to see a dietician?   please let me know if it's reasonable to just go back to the way I was eating.  Actually I do plan to buy certified gluten-free oats as that is the only grain I consume (and really like) so there will be some minor tweaks I hope and pray that I heal quickly from any possible damage that may have been done from 13 days of eating gluten.

So I've been dealing with chasing the name celiac because of my body actively dealing with health issues related to celiac though not eating. Diagnosed in 1994 before foods eliminated from diet. After 25 years with former pcp I googled celiac specialist and she wasn't because of what ive been through. I wanted my results to be sent to my pcp but nothing was sent.I have email copies.I did one zoom call with np with team member from celiac specialist in Nov 2025 and she asked me why I wanted to know why I wanted the celiac diagnosis so bad, I sad I don't, its my life and I need revalidaion because its affecting me.KB stated well it shows you are.I asked then why am I going through all this.I was labeled unruly. Its been a celiac circus and medical has caused anxiety and depression no fault to my own other than being born with bad genetics. How is it legal for medical professionals to gaslight patients that are with an ailment coming for help to be downplayed? KB put in my records that she personally spent 120min with me and I think the zoom call was discussing celiac 80 min ONE ZOOM call.SHE is responsible for not explaining to my pcp about celiac disease am I right?

I've noticed with my age and menopause my smell for bread gives me severe migraines and I know this. Its alarming that there are all these fabulous bakeries, sandwich places pizza places popping up in confined areas.Just the other day I suffered a migraine after I got done with my mri when a guy with a brown paper bag walk in front of me and I smelled that fresh dough bread with tuna, I got a migraine when we got home.I hate im that sensitive. Its alarming these places are popping up in airports as well.I just saw on the news that the airport ( can't remember which  one)was going to have a fabulous smelling bakery. Not for sensitive celiacs, this can alter their health during their travel which isn't safe. More awareness really NEEDS to be promoted, so much more than just a food consumption!FYI I did write to Stanislaus to let them know my thoughts on the medical field not knowing much about celiac and how it affects one.I also did message my gi the 3 specialist names that was given on previous post on questions on celiac. I pray its not on deaf door.
