Actually, my friend said it would be better if my skin DID react to wheat, that way any time I got zapped from holding food I'd know it wasn't safe!

My 14 yo son is wicked smart and wants to be an inventor. I suggested that he invent a test to use on food before you eat it. Since I have celiac disease and he may, it would certainly be great to have something.

There's no money in celiac disease for drug companies, but there would be $ in an invention like this.

That is so funny - I just said that exact same thing to my husband the other night. He is a mechanic and was trying desperately to think of how it could be done. It would make life soooo much easier haha. Let me know if you ever hear of such a thing in the future!

i'm sure everyone would be quite pleased if anyone came up with some kind of tester!!!

i have no idea what zapped me; but i thought my appendix had burst the other night. i have heard Kroger seasonings are ok? (had garlic powder and onion powder) which was new to me; the only other possibility could be an onion i ate. i thought vegetables were safe across the board. it was one loose you know in the huge bin or whatever??? a yellow one...i keep getting zapped but i keep eating the same things over and over to know what is new. all this new stuff is really putting a hinder on my healing process. seemed like it happened 2 days in a row. i don't know...is this the usual circumstances? does it always seem like 2 days. cuz i ate most the same stuff like an idiot--you know for the test

I had a look at the gluten test kit offered on the glutenfreetravel site. Obviously a bit cumbersome for taking to a restaurant or such. But it does mean that someone is thinking about this problem and maybe something usable isn't too far off.

Scotty, I think most of us find that we have symptoms after being glutened which can last for 2 or 3 days. So don't be alarmed that yours went on for so long. The first day is pure pain and agony, the second is usually ghost pains and lots of "brain fog" and the third is lots of weakness, but starting to feel human again.

Oh how I long for the good 'ol days when things were so much simpler.

i have no problem recognizing that i have been glutened when i have been. i have trouble narrowing it down to what got me. i want to try things again just to be sure. cuz i will get a little good feeling circulating and try more than one thing at a time cuz of cravings. i just want variety. and i want a nice reaction immediately; one lick and the tongue swells or something. this literally wipes out days; always makes me think yup i got glutened; then next day, what the hell happened again.

There's a silver lining to every cloud scotty, last time I got glutened, the symptoms lasted over a month.......
