Green Smoothies

For some reason I'm suddenly into this idea of making green smoothies for breakfast.

This morning I blended frozen mangoes, banana and spinach. Yum!

I'm wondering what other types of strange green concoctions I can create in my blender. Does anybody know what else is good? Chard, kale...um, what else?

I wish I could share your enthusiasm lol

Look on the vitamix site for recipes, they are super smoothie headquarters.

I typed in green smoothie and quite a bit came up

Mango,

Did you see the green drink Dr Oz had on Oprah?

It had:

4 stalks celery

1 cucumber

1 c spinach

1 lemon

1 lime

1 apple

1/2" fresh ginger

These ingredients are supposed to be juiced however, so it isn't exactly a "smoothie".

I would imagine if you succesfully used spinach you could use any green:

Arugula

Beet Greens

Bok Choy

Broccoli Rabe (aka Rapini)

Collards

Dandelion Greens

Endive

Escarole

Kale

Mizuna

Mustard

Spinach

Turnip Greens

Swiss Chard

Just keep in mind that spinach is a very mild flavor compared to some other greens. Arugula is spicy, collard greens and mustard greens are bitter and might be better in a V8-type drink.

No, but yum! I have a juicer too so I'll try that, thanks.

LOL yeah, that's why I'm starting out slow...with wimpy spinach drinks

The one I made this morning tasted really good, but I was informed by ppl in the office that it resembled a science project of some sort  (I personally thought it was pretty, but oh well )

Oh My! That's just not right!!:lol:

I don't care what you put in it, it makes me think it's going to taste like frozen green beans (and I hate green beans frozen or otherwise!)

Now, I sound like my kids . . . I can tell by looking at it that I'm not going to like it!:lol:

More power to you!

For everyone who thinks they won't like green smoothies, if you start out with only 2-3 leaves of spinach...I'm telling you you can't taste it at all!! I thought it would be gross, but I really like them. I don't do as much spinach as others, but I do a good amount. I started out with a small amount, but slowly increased.

Was the card itself lost or just the record or both?

We were flabergasted that the owner would not acknowledge a $50 e-gift card I purchased for my celiac wife. My wife tried to open it in the store and was informed there had been a system change and they could not find the record. No worries, she was told, just talk to management. Six months later, and numerous absurd back and forths, and the owner literally informs me there have been "bad actors", so she can't make good on this lost gift card. In other words, she accused me of lying and committing fraud... over $50! Please be careful with your orders and purchases here.

Yes, some people do get withdrawal from gluten but gluten withdrawal doesn't usually cause gut pain. Maybe more like general body aches and discomfort. We have articles on gluten withdrawal on this forum. You might do a search for them. Applesauce is very acidic and some brands have added vitamin C (ascorbic acid) which makes them more acidic. This can damage the stomach lining if you eat it too often. Especially if your stomach lining is already compromised. Ibuprofen inhibits the body's ability to rebuild the stomach's protective mucosal lining. That's why it can cause peptic ulcers. As strange as it may sound, low level irritation/inflammation stimulates the body to rebuild the stomach lining. There are two steps in this rebuilding process known as COX 1 and COX 2. Ibuprofen represses both COX 1 and COX 2. Celecoxcib, a prescription anti inflammatory, inhibits only COX 2, making it less likely to cause damage to the gut lining.

Do you or anyone know alot about ibuprofen  I wasn't sure if I was eating too much apple sauce.   Something is making my pain so much worse  I'm referring to the intense pins and needles in my feet and lower legs.  Jaw actually has tardive dystonia and muscle spasms throughout my back Almost like an opposite effect that a pain reliever would do. I'm fairly new to this. Whatever is going on seems to be worsening  Do people get a withdrawal effect from gluten?  It's extremely painful 😖  I'll post that question or research on the site  Thank you everyone for responding
