i thought that the Delimex Taquitos were ok as long as they were the ones in corn tortillas, obviously.....but after my daughter started complaining of being nauseated i read the box and found out tonight that the beef and cheese kind are not ok. im sure this is old news to most everyone else on here but we are still fairly new to this. it was totally my fault for not reading the box before i gave them to her. they use wheat flour in the seasoning, ugh!!! i feel just awful! I've got her drinking decaf chamomile tea right now to settle her tummy...any other suggestions??

My daughter dehydrates fast so watch for that (leg tenderness is her first sign of dehydration). We give her pedialyte and it helps quickly.

We do peppermint tea but I bet chamomile is just as good!

Don't beat yourself up about it. Everyone makes mistakes. I put a new sunblock on my daughter the other day without checking it. She turned bright red and bumpy in minutes. Darn stuff had oats in it. Ugh. :(

It happens to the best of us. But I understand that you feel much worse having glutened your child than glutening yourself.

The chamomile tea is a great idea, as it is very soothing. There really isn't much you can do other than be there for her and waiting it out. And reading ALL ingredients lists from now on!

You know I don't think the chicken ones are any better. I did the same thing to my daughter. Sick Sick Sick. I also bought the wrong kind of Dorritos once. She'll forgive you. Don't worry, things happen and now you know.

Welcome to the forum, @yellowstone! The most common ones seem to be dairy (casein), oats, eggs, soy and corn. "Formed" meat products (because of the "meat glue" used to hold their shape) is a problem for some. But it can be almost anything on an individual basis as your sensitivity to rice proves, since rice is uncommonly a "cross reactor" for celiacs. Some celiacs seem to not do well with any cereal grains.

What foods can trigger a response in people with gluten sensitivity? I've read that there are foods that, although they don't contain gluten, can cause problems for people with gluten sensitivity because they contain proteins similar to gluten that trigger a response in the body. I've seen that other cereals are included: corn, rice... also chicken, casein. I would like to know what other foods can cause this reaction, and if you have more information on the subject, I would like to know about it. Right now, I react very badly to rice and corn. Thank you.
