Hi everyone, I just wanted to let you know that there is a support group starting up in Bakersfield and right now we have about 18 people interested in joining. I know three or four of us here are from Bakersfield were interested in starting up a group. If you would like to join this fledgling group please email bakersfieldceliacs@sbcglobal.net. We will put you on the mailing list for the group and hopefully have another meeting soon.

Hello, It's been a long time since I've posted. Previously momof3. I had to change my user name.

Im glad to to back!!!! Stargirl, have you been to Lassens located on California ave, Mervyns shopping center? They are having a seminar re: celiac, Feb 26, 11:00am.

They have a sign up sheet at the front door. They will call you you to confirm.

I tried to e-mail you at the sight to posted. It would not go through for me.

Momof3,

If you e-mail Scott, he can change your username for you--then you can keep your personal statistics, signatures, PMs, etc. :)

Wonderful to hear from you again! I wondered where everyone had gone. Lassens is helping us to set up the support group. We had a meeting there a month ago where my aunt, mom and I all spoke. This time I think it is just my aunt, all in the family. I would love to see you there, I more than likely will be. I'll see what I can do about the email, I don't know why it wouldn't go through.

Hello group, I'm glad we are getting support. I really hope that I can attend Sat. My mom is at UCLA as of this past Saturday. They removed her kidney(cancer). So if i'm not there, keep me up to date!

I notified the board re: my user name. They said theres not much they can do about it???? I checked my firewall and cookies, and to my knowledge it's the same.

I did change from R-Runner to SBC dsl. So for now I'll be debm5 I guess.

Glad to be back!! deb

Hi stargirl,

Are the support groups still meeting at Lassens? I hope so!! It's been a stressful time for me. My mom past away march 6th. I feel I am not being as careful with my diet. A support group would be nice.

Sorry it took so long for me to get back to you Deb. The group is still alive but as of right now doesn't have a meeting planned. I'm sorry to hear about your mom. I'll keep in my prayers.

Hello, I was very stick,  with flu like symptoms, but my virus panel came back negative and we couldn’t figure out what’s going on. The doctor then added a celiac panel.  Has anyone ever had such a dramatic change?  What are the odds this is true celiac I am going to have an endoscopy, but it’s expensive and I just feel like why can’t the labs be enough?

Eating out in general is full of risks, but this article may help:

This kind of question is always difficult to give a definitive answer to because of so many variables. One such variable is the sensitivity of the individual celiac to small amounts of gluten cross contamination. An amount that causes a reaction in one celiac many not in another, or at least not be discernable which, of course, does not exactly equate to being "safe".

I don't live in the US, but based on this thread, I wouldn't risk it:   https://www.reddit.com/r/glutenfree/comments/1n2ehw8/cracker_barrel/   This app is helpful: https://www.findmeglutenfree.com/

I see that Cracker Barrel restaurants have a gluten free menu (not all locations, but one confirmed that they do). I was wondering if it is safe for my 5 year old son with celiac disease?
