Budesonide Is A Miracle!

It is nothing short of a miracle!!! I started the budesonide just under one week ago, and this morning is the first "normal" bm I have had in over a decade...

Also, I have had no gluten reactions to this drug, so I believe it to be gluten free.

I absolutely, positively, cannot believe after suffering with permanent diarrhea for a decade that I found a medication that could cure my collagenous colitis in such a short period of time!!!!! I feel like my life is going to change so much now. I am daydreaming of going out shopping and not having to run to the bathroom, no accidents, etc.

I have been doing the happy dance all morning!!!!!

Have a wonderful day, everyone!

That's great!! I know what it's like to suffer like that. Well, not for 10 years but a couple.

Enjoy shopping!!

I wanted so badly to take Budesonide, but was told by the company as well as my dr. that this is NOT a gluten-free drug and to avoid it. They said they use wheat as their binder, and the dr. told me if I went on it anyway it would improve my colitis but make me lose all the headway I'd made with the Celiac Disease. Could this be because it is manufactured differently where you are, and if so what company do you use for Budesonide?

Hi!

I just checked with Shoppers Drug Mart (the pharmacy I get my prescriptions from) and I got the name of the manufacturer. The manufacturer is Astrazeneca Canada Inc. and their customer service number is 1-800-668-6000. I just called them but their business hours are from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and it is now 5:10 p.m... I will try again tomorrow.

I can't believe the difference in me in such a short period of time though. I honestly never thought I would see the day that I actually had a normal bm again.....

Have a great day!

Hi!

I just talked to the company and they said their budesonide is both gluten and lactose free..... Maybe the Canadian version is gluten-free, but not the U.S version?

Have a great day!

So how are you now? On the road to recovery or almost completely symptom-free?

Wow, I can't believe AstraZeneca in Canada is so different from AstraZeneca here in the states...I think the AstraZeneca over here needs to get off their butts now and start manufacturing Budesonide as a gluten-free drug! I have colitis too and Budesonide is my only hope for totally correcting symptoms (the harsher drugs don't work well for me) but I am unable to take it due to the gluten factor. Hopefully things will change soon! :) congrats on feeling better!

It's amazing how the same company can manufacture the same drug but put different fillers in it depending on the country, eh? I wonder if there is any way you can get your hands on the Canadian version instead..... I remember reading a story a few months ago about a bus load of seniors taking a trip up to Windsor to get their prescriptions filled. Maybe you can hop the border too!!!

celiac3270, I would have to say I am finally on the road to recovery. I have noticed alot of the bloating, abdominal pain etc. has lessened since the diarrhea has stopped. I was so worried that when a finally started having normal bms, that my bowels would have long forgotten how to "push" anything out, since they have spent years just have things "explode" out of them, but I guess it's like riding a bike, they just kicked in and started doing what they are supposed to do....

I still have a lot of joint pain. I posted awhile about my right shoulder and left hip really bothering me. That seems to be increasing in the discomfort. I can't understand why though, since my bone density test showed my bones were actually in pretty good shape. Also, I get these burning sensations in my arms and legs that feel really weird, too. Also, the back of my neck between my shoulder blades feels like it "seizes up", if that makes any sense....I am wondering about maybe nerve damage or something.... I think I am going to ask my dr. to refer me to a neurologist.

I hope all is well with everyone and have a great weekend!!

Karen

Absolutely my point with Kerrigan, the owner. She stood to secure many years of faithful patronage by simply inviting us in for a pastry or lunch. Or by simply producing another $50 e-card based on trust. We would have been highly satisfied. We are limited to a few restaurants in the area, and that would have been one. It was very disappointing, esp to my wife, to realize we can't patronize the place anymore.

You would think any business would see the wisdom of honoring a $50 gift certificate on the basis of customer satisfaction alone, apart from any questions about software glitches.

So there was no physical, plastic card involved, correct?

When my wife attempted to open the online card in the store with a cashier, it would not work. We then showed the owner the link to the card, the online receipt that I got upon purchase, and even my bank statement confirming the purchase. That did not satisfy her, since she said she needed the link to open to reveal the gift ID num. They even admitted they had a systems problem around that time.
