Great Wolf Lodge, Grand Mound Wa

We went to the Great Wolf Lodge in Grand Mound, WA this weekend and had the BEST time, and no one got sick! We had just a standard room which has a fridge and microwave (and easily sleeps 4-6 adults and 2+ kids). so we brought cereal and fuit for first thing breakfast for the kids, (adults hit the Starbucks ;) ). I had called ahead of time and talked to the head chef of the resort and he directed me to each of the restaurants and said to talk with the head chef of each restaurant and they would be knowledgeable on food allergies and help us on what to order. The brunch buffet was what scared me the most, but the chef walked me through the (huge) buffet, told me what was safe and what wasn't (but we still stayed away from the bacon and sausages just in case). They have an omlette station and large selection of fruits and yogurts, my kids were in heaven and my dh ate till he was stuffed. Not one stomachache in the place! We didn't end up eating dinner there, but the chef did say that he would separately cook whatever we wanted to ensure that there was no cross contamination. They were so great with all of us, we will definately go back!!! The water park was pretty amazing too :D

Great news! I bet that made the vacation a little less stressful :)

That place looks like it would be great fun. I am trying to convince my family to go there this summer.

It's one of the best places for kids we've ever been!

Good to know! I will use that as leverage. Thanks!

Rachelle,

Sounds great! My family went to Great Wolf in Sandusky, Ohio, last summer (near Cedar Point). It was the first food-free vacation I had in my daughter's whole life. :D The head chef there personally cooked and walked us through the food also. They even offered to prepare us picnic lunches for Cedar Point! We ate big breakfasts at the buffet and came back to cool off in the water park and ate an early dinner every night.

I know this post is super old but it's still searchable on Google so I thought I would update it a bit. I went to Great Wolf in Grand Mound two years ago and while they were knowledgeable about gluten allergies and did what they could, I was left wanting. Especially after paying the exorbitant amount for the breakfast buffet. But I am planning on staying there again at the end of this month and I called them today just to see if anything was new, and oh boy is it ever. They now have kids sliders with gluten-free bund, hot dogs with gluten-free buns, mac and cheese with rice noodles, other types of gluten-free pasta for adult dishes, gluten-free tortillas for wraps, gluten-free waffles, french toast sticks, bacon, sausage, etc. I am so excited now I can't wait. Hope someone finds this useful!

Hi everyone  This has been a crazy year so far... How many people actually get entire sensory overload from gluten or something similar ?  My jaw is going nuts ..and that nerve is affecting my upper back and so on ...  Bones even hurt.  Brain fog. Etc  I had eggs seemed fine.   Then my aid cooked a chicken stir fry in the microwave because my food order shorted a couple key items .   I was so hungry but I noticed light breading and some ingredients with SOY !!! Why are we suffering with soy ? This triggered a sensitivity to bananas and gluten-free yogurt it seems like it's a cycle that it goes on.  The tiniest amount of something gets me I'm guessing the tiny bit of breading that I took one tiny nibble of ...yikes ..im cringing from it .. Feels like my stomach is going to explode yet still very hungry 😔  How long does this last?! Thank you so much

I have had orthodontic work done. The 3M invisalign material was no problem. BUT my retainers are another matter. They seemed okay for a few months. Now, however, they cause a burning sensation on my tongue, gums and insides of my lips. The burning sensation is now spreading to my throat. I notice it when I breathe. This is annoying and interferes with my enjoyment of eating. I am visiting with my provider tomorrow. We'll see where this goes from here.

Exactly which blood tests were done? There are a few different ones and some docs don't do them all. Also, your results and reference ranges for each?

Thankyou so much for your words. Its a hard battle when a supposed well known hospital whose celiac " specialist " has down played me because my colon looks fine and put it in my medical and so pcp doesn't take seriously. In their eyes we all carry that gene.Im having alot of bad days trying to be positive because of it.
