Has anyone ever had severe joint and muscle pain and been placed on steriods? Has anyone ever had these pains but no stomach/stool issues. My MD is trying to say that my current symptoms are related to celiac, but I doubt his diagnosis.

Sure, it can be very common for Fibromyalgia and Rheumatoid and OsteoArthritis to be associated with Celiac. Many here have those issues. I, after three years gluten free have OsteoArthritis. My doctor has not prescribed steroids, but rather two Aleves in the am and two in the pm. For the time being it seems to work.

I am not sure that I can pinpoint my arthritis on Celiac or just the aging process. Either way, I've got it.

Gluten gave me awful joint pain, but I also had intestinal issues too. Diary actually seems to make my muscle spasm oddly enough.

Why not try giving it up for a while and see what happens?

I actually dont have celiac disease but i have a wheat/gluten allergy .. my primary issue is server joint pain.. achyness all over.. Been told i have fibrya milga.. because of the issues i have .. My naturlist doc believes that is not my issue she strongly believes i have a horrible allergy to wheat.. I know beening off it i have felt so much better ... until recetnly been having issues again cause my body is reacting to dairy now witch is normal from what I been told and read. I do totally understand the frustration of pain been living with it for six years and it basically makes you misreable and depressed.. I still have alot of healing to go 6 years of being in pain and only three months gluten free .. But it is worth it end :)

i had joint pain in my hips which also consisted of general leg aches for about 8-10 months before i suspected i had Celiac. i was tested numerous times for mono, Lyme's Disease, arthritis, thyroid, etc (all negative, of course) and also went through a month of physical therapy and multiple cortisone injections before being diagnosed with trochantaric bursitis. i was told to stretch better before going to the gym/extensive walking.

after nearly a year, my pain finally subsided. then i began to suspect Celiac (chronic D for a few months among other symptoms)...positive blood, negative biopsy, positive reaction to the diet. after reading this board, i've come to the conclusion that my joint pain was just another symptom of the Celiac.

i was never put on steroids but for some time i was on 800mg 3x/day of Motrin in addition to a few cortisone injections. the cortisone didn't too a whole lot - actually nothing really helped...i recovered on my own and i make sure i stretch my legs well before going to the gym just to be safe.

i'd try gluten free just for kicks...

I also had severe joint and muscle pain, and they developed in childhood although the severe arthritic damage didn't start till much later. I also had neuro impact in childhood. I did have C, at times bad enough to impact but constant daily GI distress in the form of D did not happen until much later after my children were born.

There is a gluten sensitive gene, mine DQ9 that is considered an RA gene here. My joint and muscle pain and the resulting damage to the joints has been in remission now since a couple of months into the diet. The only time I flare now is if glutened, which is now rare.

This treatment looks promising. Its aim is to provoke immune tolerance of gluten, possibly curing the disease. It passed the phase 2 trial with flying colours, and I came across a post on Reddit by one of the study volunteers. Apparently, the results were good enough that the company is applying for fast track approval.  Anokion Announces Positive Symptom Data from its Phase 2 Trial Evaluating KAN-101 for the Treatment of Celiac Disease https://www.reddit.com/r/Celiac/comments/1krx2wh/kan_101_trial_put_on_hold/

Hi everyone  This has been a crazy year so far... How many people actually get entire sensory overload from gluten or something similar ?  My jaw is going nuts ..and that nerve is affecting my upper back and so on ...  Bones even hurt.  Brain fog. Etc  I had eggs seemed fine.   Then my aid cooked a chicken stir fry in the microwave because my food order shorted a couple key items .   I was so hungry but I noticed light breading and some ingredients with SOY !!! Why are we suffering with soy ? This triggered a sensitivity to bananas and gluten-free yogurt it seems like it's a cycle that it goes on.  The tiniest amount of something gets me I'm guessing the tiny bit of breading that I took one tiny nibble of ...yikes ..im cringing from it .. Feels like my stomach is going to explode yet still very hungry 😔  How long does this last?! Thank you so much

I have had orthodontic work done. The 3M invisalign material was no problem. BUT my retainers are another matter. They seemed okay for a few months. Now, however, they cause a burning sensation on my tongue, gums and insides of my lips. The burning sensation is now spreading to my throat. I notice it when I breathe. This is annoying and interferes with my enjoyment of eating. I am visiting with my provider tomorrow. We'll see where this goes from here.
