Hey Everyone, ok so I am a bit confused ! So I did a food sensitivity test that tested positive for the following IgG antibodies/food sensitivities: High Sensitivity to Whole Milk & Whole Eggs; Medium Sensitivity to Wheat (non-gluten) & Cocoa Bean; and Slight Intolerance to Gluten, Rice, Shell Fish, Nut mix, Soya Bean, & Yeast. So, What does this mean? Does that mean I shouldn't eat these things? Also, What is the difference between "allergy" and "sensitivity" ?

I have also been hearing a lot about "leaky gut" syndrome. What is it, and is it common? The symptoms are so many of the symptoms that I have, but then again those symptoms are common to MANY things :blink:

Is this something that a colonoscopy and biopsy would pick up on? (I had a colonoscopy the other day, and they did 3 biopsies)

I am not qualified to respond to your questions about allergy and sensitivity. I have only found that omitting foods and food groups has helped by trial and error and I learn A LOT on this site. I have been dealing with my second bout of Leaky Gut in the two yrs I've been gluten intolerant. Natural nutritional supplements from my Chiropractor/Nutritionist help me get rid of my sensitivities faster before.

It actually recommended foods to help heal the gut, which I had never seen.

I doubt that a colonoscopy or biopsy would pick it up or that a regular MD would even recognize the term. The people on this forum are your best consultants!

Naturopathic doctors use a simple test to diagnose leaky gut. You drink a solution of water and 2 sugars(I think mannulose is one; I can't remember the other). One is a large molecule sugar and the other is a small molecule. Then you collect all urine for several hours and it gets mailed to a diagnostic lab where they check the ratio between the 2 sugars. An elevated ratio indicates leaky gut. If you have gut permeability issues the small molecule will tend to leak out and therefore cause an elevated ratio of large molecule sugars in the urine. The higher the ratio the worse the gut permeability issue. Glutamine is sometimes proscribed as it is a building block for the intestinal membrane. Of course, it always best to diagnose the cause of the leaky gut and address the root of the problem.Hope this helps. I've been dealing with this issue for years.

      What you’re describing is actually very common, and unfortunately the timing of the biopsy likely explains the confusion. Yes, it is absolutely possible for the small intestine to heal enough in three months on a strict gluten-free diet to produce a normal or near-normal biopsy, especially when damage was mild to begin with. In contrast, celiac antibodies can stay elevated for many months or even years after gluten removal, so persistently high antibody levels alongside the celiac genes and clear nutrient deficiencies strongly point to celiac disease, even if you don’t feel symptoms. Many people with celiac are asymptomatic but still develop iron and vitamin deficiencies and silent intestinal damage. The lack of immediate symptoms makes it harder emotionally, but it doesn’t mean gluten isn’t harming you. Most specialists would consider this a case of celiac disease with a false-negative biopsy due to early healing rather than “something else,” and staying consistently gluten-free is what protects you long-term—even when your body doesn’t protest right away.

      Yes, I meant if you had celiac disease but went gluten-free before screening, your results would end up false-negative. As @trents mentioned, this can also happen when a total IGA test isn't done.

      I found at Disney springs and Disney they have specialist that when told about dietary restrictions they come and talk to you ,explain cross contamination measures tsken and work with you on choices. Its the one place I dont worry once I've explained I have celiac disease.  Thier gluten free options are awesome.

      Have you tried Pure Encapsulations supplements? This is a brand my doctor recommends for me. I have no issues with this brand.
