The Way I Feel After Having Gluten

I haven't been having any dramatic reactions to gluten, which is why I've ignored it for so long. What I do feel when I have a big plate of pasta is sluggishness, a feeling of fullness that's pressing down on me, and just plain awful and yukky. I don't get stomach symptoms though.

Does anybody else feel this way? Could this be celiac? I'm still waiting for my test results to come back.

Yes, it could definitely be gluten related. Many people have neurological symptoms as a reaction to gluten instead of gastro ones. For me, it's more gastro-related followed by an intense headache. Everyone is different.

Just a quick sharing.......I have very few gastro problems anymore when I get gluten (which I did this last weekend-----what was thinking?????) but gluten makes my fibromyalgia very bad and I sure am paying for that today. Back on the straight and norrow and I know it will go away, for the most part, when I am totally gluten-free again. I feel so much better when I eat gluten-free, so much less pain and much more energy and less headaches. Gluten effects people in more ways than just gastro, many doctors have their heads in the sand over this one, wish they would catch on. They will eventually when they can read it in one of their medical magazines/not just hear it from one of their patients. Kind of maddening when they don't get it when you are pointing it out to them from your own experience. How could we know anything?????????we haven't been to medical school!!!!!!

I just read somewhere that having wine with a gluteny meal makes the reaction much, much greater. Well, when I have wine, I'm usually at a restaurant eating my favorite food - pasta! When I do have the wine, I feel sooooo sluggish, I just want to lie down the rest of the evening. :huh: I thought it was just wine that made me feel this way, but now I'm wondering if it's the combination.

Am I correct about the wine reaction?

      Thiamine interacts with all the other B vitamins.  Thiamine and B 6 make a very important enzyme together. With more thiamine and other vitamins available from the supplements your body is absorbing the ones you need more of.  The body can control which vitamins to absorb or not.  You're absorbing more and it's being transported through the blood.   It's common to have both a Thiamine and a Pyridoxine deficiency.  Keep taking the B Complex. This is why it's best to stop taking supplements for six to eight weeks before testing vitamin levels.

      Yes I took a supplement that had B6 in it, low dosage though. I've stopped taking that. B1 doesn't affect other B vitamin levels?

      Have you tried lip balm made from tallow?  It's been used for thousands of years and works better than those with waxes. I prefer Vintage Traditions brand tallow balm products.

      Are you taking a B 6 supplement or a supplement containing B 6 like a B Complex?  Do you have pins and needles in your toes?   Don't worry about the thiamine being high.  The blood is a transport system that carries thiamine to the cells so they can store it.  It's fine.
