Advice On Stomach Discomfort

Just throwing this out there to see if any of you have any ideas - Before I was diagnosed (Sept.04) I had a cough which I always thought of as a seasonal allergy cough. After going gluten free, I suddenly stopped coughing! Now I think it was related to stomach. Suddenly, in the last week or so, I'm starting to cough again and having some stomach pain and heartburn. I did eat a few meals this week with wheat free soy sauce and I'm wondering if the soy is bothering my stomach. Any ideas?

You mentioned the soy sauce was wheat free...was it gluten free as well? The only time I usually get stomach pain is if I accidentally gluten myself. Maybe you could have another intolerance as well.

Check the soy sauce label for gluten (other than wheat), that could be your problem. Also investigate any new foods or products you may have had/used in the last week for hidden gluten. Like lotions, toothpastes, shampoos, conditioners, suncreens, lip gloss/stick, ect.

If everything seems clear, than maybe get tested for an intolerence to soy...?

Or try a different brand altogther. Maybe your brand IS gluten free but it could be processed in a plant with gluten and got contaminated...?

I use VH soy sauce with no problems and it is gluten free (in Canada at least, not sure about the US or other countries).

Good luck! B)

The Lindt (Lindor) dairy-free oat milk truffles are definitely gluten-free, and (last time I checked) so are the white chocolate truffles and the mint chocolate truffles.

I've used magnesium taurinate and magnesium taurate vitamins.  Didn't notice much of a difference when I used them.

More great tips, and a good excuse to shop at M&S and also buy more iced buns!   I wish we had an ASDA near us, as the few times we've been to one their gluten-free pasta range seemed very reasonably priced compared to other shops.  Thanks so much, @Russ H.
