Positive After 1.5 Years Gluten Free

I need help understanding something. Is a positive Ab, IgA a bad thing - my number is 22 reference range is considered high above 19. I have been very, gluten free for 1.5 years. I am extremely careful and have had a dietician go through my food to make sure I am not getting gluten. My ferritin tested low and did my iron saturation level - it was 19, normal range 20-50. I sent my GI the results and they are not at all concerned because my other vitamin levels are in the normal range, even though they are low. I also have gastroparesis and am now on a liquid diet. I should also mention that my IGA was 225 reference range 68 to 378, my ANA, igG said detected, and the ANA by IFA, igG titer was <1:40, reference range <1:40. I do not understand any of these numbers? My primary dr acted alarmed by the results and my GI just told me that he would see me in a year. Does anyone have any ideas or can anyone explain to me what these tests mean? Thank you in advance.

It would help to know how high those antibodies were at diagnosis. For some it can take a while to get down to nonexistant. Although the continued low iron stores may mean you have been getting some inadvertant gluten somewhere.

Did your doctors also tell you that you need to be careful of more than food? If you are using a gluten containing shampoo, lotions, art supplies, living with gluten eaters and getting CC'd frequently, using the same toaster or sharing condiments, peanut butter etc, having a pet that eats gluten food all of those and more can be a source of crosscontamination and can keep those antibodies in force. You also need to check all supplements and meds, both OTC and script with the makers. There are no labeling regs with meds and wheat starch does not need to be disclosed.

      Thank you for your reply Knitty Kitty (from a fellow knitter) My TSH and T4 is within normal range, and has been checked along with the rest of my bloodwork consistently over the past many years. I am very aware of Hashimoto's since my mom has it  (she does not have celiac disease, her other autoimmune disease is diabetes (which I am monitored for but don't have - I "only" have allergies).  And yes - I eat iodized salt to protect my thyroid. Good suggestions though and thank you for the links.

      @Mettedkny, Have you had your thyroid checked lately?  People with thyroid problems like Hashimoto's thyroiditis produce tTg IgG antibodies whether exposed to gluten or not.  Hashimoto's is another autoimmune disease frequently found with Celiac disease.  Do you eat iodized salt or sea salt?   P.       Then it sounds like the thing you really need to focus more on is being more consistent with the gluten-free diet. Another suggestion I would make is to avoid using a lot of pre-made gluten-free food. Gluten-free facsimile flours are not enriched like their wheat counterpart and are full of empty calories. Focus on naturally gluten free foods that are nutrient and calorie dense. Have you had your vitamin D3 levels checked?

      I know that but they make my sides hurt , believe me I think I have very poor absorbtion I take iron and it doesn't go up , vitamins and everything else the test results are the same from the last year
